Reesa had heard the expression ‘if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all’ countless times, and while it felt counterintuitive to conceal her talk with Daniela, she reasoned that she’d be fanning unnecessary flames if she revealed it. What was more, she didn’t want Myko to think he had to choose between her and the potential mother of his child. This logic was why she said nothing about their conversation to him or anyone else.
Barring that topic, however, she craved a friendly ear, preferably outside of her and Myko’s relatives. As though they knew what she needed, Harper called the morning after the hospital incident.
“You sound like you need a hug,” they said post their greetings.
Reesa, lying on the bed in her room at the manor, put her cell phone on speaker and propped it against a pillow. “That’s because I do.” The device glowed with hug and heart emoticons. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome. Say the word and I’ll come there in person.”
