Chapter 30: Lovers Reconcile

“Aurelie?”

Aurelie spun around, her red hair flying.

Tobin was stepping out of his car, creating a striking silhouette against the street lights.

“Oh, Tobin!” Aurelie sobbed and ran forward.

He wrapped his arms around her and she melted into his familiar embrace. Aurelie buried her face into his chest and breathed in the smell of woodlands and masculine power.

“Oh Aurie, I missed you,” Tobin whispered into her hair. “I was driving and couldn’t answer your calls. I came as soon as I could.”

“Are you alright?” Aurelie asked, looking up into his eyes.

Tobin smiled faintly. “You saw the paper?”

“Yeah,” she said. “I was so worried. I’ve been blaming myself.”

“Don’t do that,” Tobin looked around. “Let’s go inside and we can talk more.”

They stopped their embrace to go hand in hand, to Aurelie’s apartment. Thunder rumbled nearby and the wind began to pick up.

“Hurry,” Aurelie said kindly. “Rain is coming.”
