Cao Guang discreetly inquired about the situation at the relay station from Tong Xuan, Zhang Dan and Zhang Qihu. From their answers and the information he knew, he drew conclusion that calmed him.
At least he didn't have to abort this trip and risk his daughter's safety.
Firstly Shi Qianshou was not a Super Mage yet he was only near the peak of Advanced level, he wasn't all that suprised about that since the battle between Mo Fan and Shi Qianshou happened.
Secondly Shi Qianshou was not there in the relay station right now, he was a part of the initial exploration and was later required to go to Northern Military HQ. But from the fact Tong Xuan and the brothers were being transferred here from this week, meant that Shi Qianshou was probably pulling the strings to make his plan happen.
These guys were already in cahoots with the man, and was posted here from different parts of the country. One from Bo and the other two from Magic City. This indicated that he had some standing in HQ.
This also meant that the commander at the station had found an Earth Pistil, and Shi Qianshou had some inkling about it. She probably didn't say it to the man but he might have sensed the magic fluctuations.
Cao Guang checked his phone and other devices and sure enough there was no connection even though he was using military tech.
Which meant Shi Qianshou had isolated the place and probably would let him leave so easily that now he was here, they had crossed the meandering sand river half an hour ago.
The military had a special way of crossing that place. That was by using a Tamed monster, Alloy Armoured Hippopotamus, they were natives to the area and had been tamed by the army long time ago. They had the ability to float in the Sand River using pockets of air in the underside of their belly, kind of similar to ships made out of steel floating on water even though the steel is denser than water.
The Hippos also had great armour to protect them from attacks, apparently they were so effective that wild Hippos were hunted to craft magic equipment.
Thirdly the commander at the relay station was for sure a Super Maga. There was in fact Tong Xuan's sister, a Qin Xiaoyu who was posted in the Relay station. But she was probably not an experienced one or the Sandstorm Demon Locusts would not have been fatal to her.
These facts gave him some hope and that didn't require him to go back and take a loan from someone and buy a Soul seed or two for Little Flame Belle. He would get his job done and leave, if possible he would alert the commander.
As soon as Cao Guang had this thought he saw Sandstorm Demon Locusts flying over his head, weirdly enough this invasive predatory species avoided him and the troops on the ground almost completely.
It was a lie, Shi Qianshou is already here somewhere, he is moving these Sandstorm Demon Locusts in small numbers to evade detection of the commander's men. He wants to devour everyone in one single move. He will probably still fail, by I have to find Lin Feili and move towards the Burning Mountains. Just brilliant.
Cao Guang started to get worried when he saw the Sandstorm Demon Locusts move slowly in small groups towards the relay station.
Shi Qianshou doesn't have the ability to control these Demon Locusts, so he is probably luring them separately, it's almost undetectable if I wasn't on my guard which means, I have very little window before I become insect feed or fertilizer to survive.
The Sandstorm Demon Locusts were a weird and largest horde of Taklamakan, there was another horde that numbered over a million here and seven more strong hordes. They all neighboured and fought with Beijiang Desolate Beasts or Beijiang Scorpions. So none of them were the easy kind.
It was the discovery of being able to integrate a fire formation into a barrier core that enabled Tarim Basin Military Base and the few surrounding Towns to exist.
Sandstorm Demon Locusts were only Minions and they were among the weakest Minions individually, quite a few of them could be killed by basic spells as well. But together they were a menace.
The speed at which they flapped their wings caused a Sound spell that prevented anyone without Advanced level Mental Strength from casting spells. Cao Guang wasn't even in the Intermediate level yet.
