Sienna quickly raised her head.
"What do you mean?" Fear bubbled up in her chest.
"You still caused trouble," he said with a devious look on his face. "Besides, I am a man of my word. I promised Mr. Kilmartin that I would punish you for his sake. Why were you so rude to him, anyway? You are a servant and he is a guest of the king. You surely know how to pick an opponent."
"I was just walking, and he tried to drink from me. What do you expect me to do?"
"You have my mark. He cannot bite you."
"But that doesn't mean he couldn't kill me. Once he realized your mark wouldn't allow him to bite me, he would have been annoyed and might have snapped my neck. He tried to attack me. I had no choice but to protect myself."
"Hm," he nodded thoughtfully. "You made a mistake regardless."
He looked down at her with disdain.
"You made a mistake by not killing him," he added, making her eyes widen slightly.
