The same night, after Anurak and New returned to their rooms, Anurak found it very difficult to fall asleep. He held the card Tharn gave him and kept staring at it. Should I go? Should I not go? These were the thoughts in his heart. New was gloomy and edgy all day after that encounter with Tharn. Therefore, Anurak couldn't even tell him about it. He kept lying that Tharn only came to apologize while New insistently warned Anurak to stay away from the guy.
As Anurak was thinking of Tharn, he remembered the single tear that dropped from Tharn's cheeks as he was being dragged away. The rage in New's usually calm and confident eyes… “They are both suffering.” He mused aloud. “But there is nothing I can do about it unless New opens up to me.”
Anurak kept tossing and turning on his bed, worried about his friend. He didn't like the version of New that he saw that day. “Maybe I should try to get Tharn to tell me what is going on? That will be easier than getting New to talk.”
