“What happened?" New asked alarmingly when he saw Anurak's face. He looked pale like someone who had seen a ghost and his forehead was covered with sweat.
“Nothing. Let's go, please." Anurak replied. He got into the car, locked in his seat belt, and turned his face to the window, avoiding New's askance face.
Knowing he wouldn't get a single word out of the boy, New started the car and drove out of the stadium.
The journey home was in silence. To discourage New from asking him more questions, Anurak pretended to be sleeping until they got to the hostel.
“Anu… “
“New, please, can I be alone for now? I need to rest.”
Before New could ask him any questions, Anurak opened the car door and went into the hostel building ahead of him. Huffing in resignation, New drove to the lot and parked the car.
