Chapter 8 - Pretentious

The doctors hurried over when they heard that the young master of the Ying family was summoning them. The hospital they were in was owned by the Ying family, and they were all exclusive doctors to the family. And when they entered the VIP ward, they saw the young master sitting on a small stool with a frown, and on the patient's bed was the young master's study mate, Jua Gu.

"Master, you called for us."

"Something is strange with him," Ying Mao pointed to the boy.

Jua Gu raised a brow. "Nothing is wrong with me?"

"Let the doctors be the judge of that."

The doctors all hurried to do multiple checks on him. Jua Gu was wheeled into a strange-looking white room with a weird device. He was asked to strip and wear a thin cloth and made to lie on the bed. "What is this?"

"Little Jua Gu, I want you to stay still, okay? The machine will take photos of your brain."

Jua raised a brow. "What is a photo?"

The doctors all gazed at each other. "We'll explain it to you after you are out. Just don't move, okay." The doctor cut the speaker. "Did he just ask what a photo is?"

Ying Mao watched all this from the end of the examination room. "He did not even know what a tablet was." The doctors gazed at the patient with a frown. "Here it is…" The doctors gazed at the CT scan with an even deeper frown. "Why is it black?"

The whole CT scan was just pure black.

"Maybe the machine malfunctioned. You should call a technician."

The head doctor gazed back at the young master with a small smile. "The machine must have malfunctioned. I believe your friend is in great health."

Ying Mao scoffed and stood there with a frown. He had not seen the kidnappers hit the boy, but he had heard a lot of screams coming from outside the door. 'They must have hit his head too hard…' 'This was retribution he gets for scheming against me…' He thought this, but his heart was still aching slightly. "Change the machine."

"Y-yes…" The doctors did not skimp on the young master's orders. They quickly took Jua Gu to another CT scan machine. And once again, they got the same result.

"Maybe he has a hard skull…" one of the young doctors whispered. "Why else would we not be able to see anything?"

"We should check him again."

"Too much radiation is not good for a growing child."

"But if we can't see what is going on, we might not be able to treat him."

The doctors were perplexed as to what to do. Their hesitant gaze kept falling on the young master who was waiting behind them.

Yong Mao could not take it any longer. "What is going on?"

"We... we are not able to get a clear CT scan, sir."

"Why not?"

The child's shout was enough to invoke fear in the doctors' hearts. They had dealt with many children in the past, but the second young master was the hardest to deal with. He was smart for a ten-year-old, and the way he carried himself was like an adult. Plus, his father listens to every single word of his. Who wouldn't be scared of him?

The senior doctor wiped his sweat and walked up front. "It is not the fault of the machine but the patient itself, sir. I believe he might have a thick skull, making it harder for us to get a good image."

"So you can't treat him?"

"We... we can't."

Ying Mao glared at them, gesturing to his caretaker. "Find a traditional Chinese medicine doctor. Maybe he can help him more than these guys," saying so, he walked out.

The doctors all let out a huge sigh. Facing the young master was like facing a great emperor, and they were just poor peasants kneeling at his feet.

Jua Gu blankly walked back into the familiar yet unfamiliar bed. "Umm, what is going on?"

He understood nothing. This world was completely new to him. He had no clue what kind of magic devices these people use. It left him quite baffled.

A little later, an old man with a white beard walked into the room slowly. Jua's eyes narrowed. The man had a small amount of spiritual energy around him. 'So this world does have spiritual energy. Just not many people practice it…'

"This must be young Jua. Can you hold your hand out to me, young man," the old man smiled kindly.

Jua silently held out his hand.

The old man checked his pulse sincerely. "Your other hand, child." Jua held up his casted hand. "I'll just check your pulse on your neck then," the old man touched his neck softly. "Hmm, interesting. You must be in a great deal of pain."

Jua nodded. This body he inherited was worse. It came with a plethora of problems, including heightened senses. He was able to hear things a lot clearer. It sounded like a great thing, but as a cultivator, his hearing sense became a hundred times stronger. He was able to hear the screams of a patient five floors beneath him. It was uncomfortable. Plus, his sense of smell also amplified. This whole room smelled like the old man who died before him. That unpleasant smell was hard to ignore. There is also the fact that he had heightened pain sensors. 'A trash body.' He deduced in his mind. The old doctor checked his pulse again. "I'll give you some medicines for your bone development. But looking at it now, you seem to be healing very rapidly."

Ying Mao frowned. "But he can't recognize many things."

The old man raised a brow. "What can't you recognize, young man?" he asked Jua.

Jua just frowned.

"He doesn't know what a photo is." Ying answered for him.

Jua Gu nodded. He had no clue what that was.

The old man raised a brow. "He must have forgotten a few things. So what? He is in good health. There is nothing much to fix about him. Let him rest a few days; maybe he would start to remember."

Ying Mao frowned. This doctor too was useless.

'Maybe there is nothing wrong with this guy.'

'Maybe... maybe he is pretending to be clueless.'

Ying glared at him. 'Pretentious bastard… I'll see how long he can put on that innocent act. When he reveals his face, I will definitely destroy him.' He smiled evilly.
