Ancient Artifact

[Asher's Perspective]

On the outskirts of the base, I practiced my Shadow Magic, embracing the freedom of flight. Ascended Vampires in the Runner Unit had adopted the shadow wings trick, making mid-air combat a common spectacle.

A glint in the red sand caught my attention, revealing a metallic object. Descending swiftly, I uncovered a lifeless, ancient mechanical automaton with a lizard-like visage.

"Hm… what do we have here?" I murmured, deploying my shadow tendrils to extract the mysterious artifact. Carrying it over my shoulder, I flew back to the base, hoping Fierce and Paige could identify it.

"I've never seen anything like it before," Paige said, eyeing the robot.

"Yeah, it's creeping me out," Fierce grumbled.

"Maybe someone in that town knows about it? It looks ancient, like the city that was once here. Maybe it's from their time," I suggested.

"Okay. We'll leave it here for now and ask around later. Any leads on the Cursed Spirit?" I inquired.

"Hard to find anything new when there is no information, buddy," Fierce replied. "If not even Vazeel doesn't know, then we sure as hell don't."

"Good point," I agreed. Paige took my hand, asking, "Can we go to the town and ask about this thing?"

I smiled. "Yeah. Let's do it."

During our recreational time, we revisited Unity and consulted Remington, the bartender at Coolio's, about the Mechanoid Drake.

"We found this old, robot-lookin' thing," I explained.

"Mm-hmm, yes, I see. So you found one — a Mechanoid Drake," Remington confirmed.

"They were once guardians of the city Elephasia, built by the Mechanoid Dwarves and Roshan the City Founder. They kept the peace," he elucidated.

"Wow… that was over a thousand years ago, wasn't it?" I exclaimed.

"Old enough," Remington replied, pushing a cocktail toward me. "How is your training going?"

"Great, actually," I replied confidently.

"If you need a break, there's a hot spring west of here. It's a privilege to experience," Remington suggested.

Paige's eyes lit up at the mention of a hot spring. "A hot spring?"

Smiling, I nodded. "Alright. Hot spring it is."

Exiting the bar, Fierce, Paige, and I boarded a Blood Corp. aircraft. Fierce took the pilot's seat as we lifted off, heading further west towards the anticipated relaxation of the hot spring.
