Chapter 24

Inside the Kent house, Clark angrily threw down the duffle bag filled with clothes. Before walking back upstairs to grab a smaller bag, holding a laptop and a world map. While also holding an article of a piece of Chinese history. A history that dates back a few centuries of a famous sorcerer who asked a craftsman to make a treasure to hide his most treasured possession.

For what the treasure was, neither Clark nor Leonardo knew. However, it was their first stop to check out. Since it said this sorcerer could emit lasers from his eyes and fly through the heavens.

"I still don't think this is a good idea." Clark grumbled. "What can we even find that treasure hunters haven't in the last few centuries. They searched the temple in question from top to bottom."

"Clark, the sooner we do this, the sooner we can return. If it goes well, we can be back before summer is over and you can start your junior year." Leonardo answered for the millionth time since this morning. "Just think of it as a learning trip around the world learning the various cultures around the world."

"Clark's right, you guys shouldn't be doing this." Jonathan said.

"I know you want to protect Clark, but you also can't lock him up or shelter him forever. This isn't just a learning chance for us, but also you two. It will only be two more years before Clark goes off to college and he won't be around every day." Leonardo said to Jonathan and Martha. "Besides, have some faith that we can handle ourselves."

"As much as I hate it, Leonardo has a point, Jonathan. It would do well for Clark to go out and stretch his legs. It might even mature him a bit." Martha sighed as she sat on the couch. "However, you two must send postcards and letters, so we know you are safe."

"Can do, however, you can't display the post cards since it would be kind of hard to explain. We aren't exactly rich enough for me and Clark to be traveling the world for the summer." Leonardo pointed out. "One look you will have Lex, Chloe and that annoying brunette Lana asking questions."

"That's what scrapbooking is for." Martha winked.

"So how do you guys plan to get there?" Jonathan asked a more important question.

Clark shuffled a bit as did Leoanrdo. "A bit of running and probably a bit of flying."

"Want to run that by me once again." Jonathan asked.

Leonardo closed his eyes and began to imagine the beautiful women calling for him in the sky and slightly lifted off the ground. Before he dropped back down with a small smile as while not perfect yet, Leonardo was getting the hang of it. It sort of clued both Jonathan and Martha that he could fly.

"You can fly? Aren't you two afraid of heights?" Jonathan started flat out.

"We are and it's not perfect yet, but Leonardo is getting there." Clark sighed. "Meanwhile, I am still Earthbound."

"It's nearing time for us to go. We will be back as soon as possible, and don't worry. After we track down the first one, the last two shouldn't be as tricky." Leonardo said, holding out his arms for a hug.

While Leonardo didn't like hugs or being touched all that much, he knew Clark didn't mind. Not to mention it will be a long while before they will be back in Smallville. So after giving a quick goodbye, Leonardo reached down and grabbed their backs and super sped out of the house heading towards the Atlanta Ocean coast.

Not long after he left, much to the sadness of Jonathan and Martha. A knock at their door broke them of their sadness as they tried to uplift their spirit. So opening the door, Jonathan found Lana at the door.

"Hello, Mr. Kent. Is Clark around? I came to talk with him." Lana asked.

There was no remorse nor indication of what she wanted to talk to him about after two weeks of ignoring him. It was as if basically banning him from the Talon and throwing coffee at him wasn't done by her.

"You just missed him." Jonathan answered. "He probably won't be back until the end of summer."

"What!" Lana shriek nearly busted Jonathan eardrums. "Why?"

"That's our business." Jonathan said as Martha rubbed his back.

"The Kent's keeping secrets. How original." Lana snorted as she turned around and walked away.

"She turned into a real diva, hasn't she?" Martha said seeing Lana drive away quickly. "Hopefully it is just a teenage phase."

"I can see why Leonardo doesn't have a high opinion of her." Jonathan nodded in agreement.

Nearly an hour later in near twenty minute gaps of each other, they told Pete and Chloe the same thing. Only Pete got to know a bit more details, which made both teens sad, but they cheered up afterwards.

It didn't take long for Leoanrdo and Clark to arrive at the coast line. Seeing the ocean waves crash upon the shore as they are at a deserted area where no one is nor cameras. Leonardo took control of the body.

'Alright, now let's hope that we don't fall in the ocean. Otherwise our phone and computer will be busted.' Leonardo said.

'If we do, I blame you.' Clark grumbled still not like having to leave Smallville.

'Did you study the language and culture this morning like I asked?' Leonardo asked Clark.

'Yes,' Clarked whined.

'Great, then let's get this show on the road.' Leonardo cheered as their feet slowly lifted off the ground before it shot off into the sky.

Quickly flying over the Atlantic Ocean, while it was slightly jarring and wobbly at first, Leonardo quickly got the hang of it. Even if he was afraid of heights, the feeling of flying really gave him a sense of freedom. Judging by Clark's screams he seems to agree with him.

Well, until they began to plummet from the high atmosphere with Leoanrdo attempting to stop their free fall. However, besides a few seconds of stopping, a large splash just happened a few miles from Portugal coast. Thus making what they hoped didn't happen, did happen.

'Clark. Do you care to explain?' Leonardo wanted to growl. 'You couldn't have waited a few more seconds for us to crash on land?'

'Sorry, I accidently freaked out and thought we are even more freakish about being able to fly.' Clark said.

'Clark, we aren't freaks, we are just different. Well, anyways, let's get to shore and dry off and see what we can salvage from our stuff.' Leonardo sighed as they saw to the shore. 'Well, since I guess we are on the edge of Europe, shall we make a stop by the Eiffel Tower on the way? No sense in skipping some of the world's top tourist spots.'

'Ok.' Clark shrugged.

He was already being dragged around the world, and Leonardo did have a point. Since they were traveling, they might as well take in some sights while they're at it.

Back at the Kent farm, as he was sipping his coffee, Jonathan looked at Martha.

"So, how much do you want to bet they fell into the ocean?" He asked.

Martha rolled her eyes, but she was fretting over that issue. While they believed in their son, him crashing into the ocean was worrying for her. Since he could possibly drown there even with his abilities.

"Don't you have any confidence in your son." Matha said.

"That's why I asked." Jonathan shrugged. "It's because I know him so well."
