Sirius tried to think of a proper wedding gift. Of course, he had already thought of what to give to James, but for Lily, he wanted to make it something special. Something personal that she may cherish for a long time.
He had scoured the shops in both magical and non-magical parts of the country and still returned empty-handed. So, instead of looking out, he started looking in, which led him to the Black family vault in the Gringotts.
"What is all this garbage?" Sirius looked at the vault filled with magical books, items, and plenty of things that could kill him if touched. But eventually, carefully, he arrived at the jewelry section that particularly belonged to his mother.
This was the thing about rich, pureblood families. Their wealth was generational, and even the simplest of things held a deep history. Every single piece of jewelry Sirius picked and discarded was centuries old, often gifts from famous people in history.
"Aha! Perfect for a wedding gift!" Sirius finally found a shining white pearl necklace with a green pendant. "Let's check if that ugly woman placed some curse on it."
Sirius didn't find anything, but he still didn't feel comfortable, so he paid the Goblins to have the necklace cleaned and checked for dark magic. He didn't regret it in the end, as the Goblins did find some nasty secret enchantments.
It was expensive, but at last, the Goblins turned it into a simple, normal necklace with no magical properties.
"Now, I need a wedding suit for myself," he muttered and headed to a clothes shop in Diagon Alley itself. The market was bustling, which was not the case until some time ago. Ever since his massacre of the Death Eaters, a new wave of peace had spread.
He wasn't a very formal person, so he merely got himself a simple white shirt, a red tie, and a black matching suit. That was all the preparation he needed to do as a guest at their wedding and also the best man for the couple.

"Master Black looks good."
Sirius smiled at Kreacher. "Take care of the house when I'm gone. I will start the second round of hunting quickly after."
With Regulus' graduation also approaching, Sirius felt a need to hurry up and deal with the Dark Lord. The more time he allowed the evil to fester, the more danger he felt creeping closer to those he loved and cared about.
After fixing his hair with a simple comb, Sirius stood near a window with his broom in hand. He still hoped to pick up one last thing for Lily since he was first going to visit her and hand her the gift. He hoped she'd wear it at the wedding.
Snap!
He apparated to the building's terrace and then took off on the broom.
Flying towards the wedding venue, he saw a small field of flowers on the way. He made a quick dive there and snatched a single, lily flower.
A small gift matching her name.
The wedding was being held not far from James' family estate. It was a rather private ceremony with not too many guests as the threat of the Death Eaters and the Dark Lord still loomed—mainly some friends from school and close family members having arrived before him.
Of course, Lily's sister and her husband skipped the wedding for their selfish reasons. Sirius wondered if he should force them to come so Lily would be happy, but in the end, he dropped the plan.
Reckon she'd be the happiest seeing me of all people right now.
His flight was fast, and he soon landed on the terrace of the wedding venue. It was a small flower garden with a separate lawn, so the place was perfect for a private wedding. There was also a building adjacent to it for indoor sitting and rooms for privacy.
"There you are!" Remus saw him coming down from the stairs. "James has been panicking around, looking for you."
"Looking for me? Why? I'm not the bride." Sirius joked and looked around, "Where is he?"
"In his room." Remus gestured towards a corridor.
Sirius sighed and headed to it. There weren't that many people in that entire building anyway, and yet it was beautifully decorated. He could see James had spared no effort to make the day special.
Knock! Knock!
He knocked on the door and entered without waiting. "James, what's the matter?"
"Sirius!" James jumped from his seat before a large mirror, "Where've you been? You're the best man!"
Sirius apologetically approached, "What happened?"
"Look what I received." James barked and took out an envelope from his suit pocket. "It was delivered to me this morning by an owl."
Confused, Sirius took the letter and slipped out the folded paper. It bore no markings or stamps, but the words were clear and straightforward.
[Blood traitors shall be purged along with their mudblood wives.]
With his eyebrows furrowed and his eyes filled with rage, Sirius looked back at James. "Can I keep this? I'll make the one who wrote this eat it."
"Do whatever you want with it, Padfoot. I'm not afraid of them coming after me, either. I just want this wedding to happen normally. Plenty of people know I'm getting married today," James said. "They might attack us here."
"They wouldn't dare, not as long as I'm here." Sirius had the utmost confidence in his words. "They are too scared to face me."
"You? Why?"
"Words can't explain, Prongs." Sirius still kept his immortality a secret. The more people knew, the greater the risk would become. "Oh, I brought you a gift. It's some potion made of Ginseng in North Korea. They say it can turn a sheep into a lion… in the bed."
James' eyes sparkled as he snatched the packed box. "Dammit, Sirius, if you were a girl, I'd kiss you for this. Thank you so much."
"..."
Speechless, he patted James' shoulder and headed to the door. "I'll go check up on Lily. You better wipe that frown off your face. You look constipated."
James sneered and looked back into the mirror—indeed finding a constipated face.

Knock! Knock!
Sirius took a calming breath and knocked on the room Lily was staying in. It had been a while since he last saw her, trying to keep some distance to let their unspoken relation fade into a distant memory.
Clack!
The door opened, and Lily appeared standing, arms folded. Her delicate, creased brows gave off her mood as her green eyes narrowly glared at him. Indeed, she was angry.
Sirius gulped, "Y-You looked stunning, Lily."
Studying her figure, she indeed looked beautiful. Her white gown with silver embroidery was perfection in his eyes. It was sleeveless, revealing her creamy pale shoulders, with her bosom covered and tightly pushed together with a bodice. The waist was hugged by a corset-like piece, and the rest of the fabric fell around her legs beautifully. One couldn't help but wonder what was underneath there—also white?
Lily peeked her head out and looked left and right in the corridor. The veil clipped on her brunette hair swayed with her quick motions.
"Come inside." She grabbed Sirius's arm with her bridal glove-covered hands and pulled him in. "I'm angry at you."
Click!
She closed the door after pushing him inside. "Now you got time to visit me? I used to wait for you every single night, keeping the window open."
Sirius looked at her with a mix of guilt, "I got busy fighting the Death Eaters… I…"
"I know," she replied, her voice gentler this time. "Are you hurt anywhere?"
Don't… Don't show this much concern for me, girl. Sirius felt extremely conflicted by his emotions. Lily was one amazing woman in his eyes, talented and just the right amount crazy. But the thing was, she was never this crazy with anyone else, not even James.
He stared at her beautiful face and walked closer to her. His hand came out, reaching for her, and gently caressed the side of her jaw, her beautifully done hair draping around like silk curtains. "Nothing can hurt me, Lily."
Lily tilted her face against his warm palm, feeling ticklish and having a great sense of closeness. What was it about Sirius that made her feel so free? She still had no clue. "You look great in suits; who could have known?"
"But it's not my style," he shrugged.
"I know, it feels odd. But…" Lily stepped closer to him, looking at his face. Her arms slid around Sirius' chest as she hugged him. "You're perfect for today."
He drowned in her glittering green eyes, her perfume scent reaching his nose and tickling in the right places. He wanted to lean down and pluck those lips with his own, but first, he had something to give her.
"I brought you a present," he said, remaining in Lily's loose embrace. He took out a small box and a flower from the suit's pocket. "Let me put this on you first."
