Carl finished the beer in his hands to toss the can into a trash can before belching in the most subtle way possible.
As a butler he wanted to retain his integrity even when he was alone. He did not want to slip for even a second. That was the discipline he had come to give himself and that was the discipline he was going to live by.
He started to think deeply about Victor. The man had worked for Hudson as a personal accountant for eight years and amongst the others about to work for the heir, he was the only one who knew that the other companies belonged to Hudson.
They had no idea how wealthy Hudson was and the old man wanted to keep it that way. He wanted people to respect him for who he was and not what he had.
Victor's moral compass when it came to the world of finance was always questionable as he was only intent on winning for himself and his team.
He walked a fine line between that of legality and illegality, navigating the grey areas that lay within the financial landscape.
His methods even when they were ones to be wary of always yielded results which made him both a man of value and an asset but also a potential liability if he ever decided to go rogue because he knew all the dealings of the company.
Carl wiped the sweat off his forehead praying silently to not have to go after the man. He seemed like the one who would cause the most damage out of the others in the team.
Sure he was not as strong or as smart or as hardworking or as influential as the others but he was even more dangerous than all of them combined being able to destroy the company he worked for by only releasing bank statements and dealings of their personal accounts.
This alone could devastate the entire business.
Victor was a dangerous man and a wild card embodying both charm and hazard. Carl also wished for the accountant to not be a nuisance to the heir.
But apart from all of the cons of working with Victor, he was still one who understood the deep workings of money and he had a willingness to operate outside the confines of the law which made him a formidable presence and asset to Greg.
The last person on the list was Evangeline or as she liked to be called Eve. Amongst the others in the group, she was the least problematic.
Why she was in the group was still very much unclear as she had the influence to stand on her own and she had pretty much made a name for herself.
Maybe she wanted to belong to a group or she wanted more influence, that was still unclear to the butler but she had not been his choice, she had been Hudson's choice to add to the group.
According to the old man he could see potential in her and wanted her close to his nephew.
From what the butler could get, she was great with making connections with those of high ranks.
Unlike Dominic who did that with that u defund mobs and gangs, she did hers with the highest of the highs, using her influence to get connections.
This was great for business and was great for the heir as this was what was needed for the group to move forward.
She would serve as one who would be collecting information for the group. Carl knew that she had a lot of dirt on so many people. After all, the entertainment industry was not the cleanest one out there, they had their issues and their flaws.
This was what they were going to capitalize on and use to their advantage.
Carl stood to his feet, brushing off nonexistent dust from his clothes as he did that out of reflex.
He knew the entire team had been picked by Hudson after careful evaluation and every single one of them had their reason for supporting the heir.
Carl knew it was time to get into the room and get the team back together again. It was time to address everyone and make sure they understood who they were working for and what they would be doing incase they did not know.
The only person he had tried talking to and explaining things to was Isabella, seeing as she did not trust the heir.
In fact, when they had all been briefed of what they would be doing they had all had doubts about Greg but he would clear up those doubts again and make sure they knew who they were working for.
Greg was not Hudson, that was true, but he was just as important as the old man. He was the heir. He was the one who would inherit all of this if the man decided to give it away.
Carl took in deep breaths as he thought of the past when he had worked with Hudson, helping him be the man he was today.
He had left Hudson's father to work for Hudson. A difficult and hard decision to take at the time but in the end it had paid off.
Here they were being one of the biggest corporations in the country and one of the biggest in the world.
A feat that was achieved in a very short time but in a crafty way that had stamped them as one of the most remarkable businesses standing in the world today.
He picked up a bottle of water as he headed back for the conference room to find it rowdy with everyone talking.
He looked at Greg who sat at the edge of the table having the best time of his life enjoying the scenery before him.
"Here," he handed the bottle of water to the heir. "You need this."
"Thank you," Greg appreciated the butler as he opened it to drink.
