The Fake Marriage

"You don't seem to be amused," she noted, a bit disappointed by his nonchalant expression. "But it's fine. I'll still go on. Now this is where you come in. If you and I can get married, and make this believable to the entire world then I would have won.

"I can't let him have the last laugh. I need him to cry and beg for mercy.

"If I had powers like some kind of god or demon I would have turned him into a snake, but I don't so I'm stuck with having to go through these boring old plans which I don't even know if they would work.

"But even with that I still need your help because I can't do this alone."

Contract marriage, he thought. A classic marriage he had seen going on for years now and has never been able to work for so many couples.

He had seen a couple of people being genuinely happy in some of their contracted marriages but there were so many relationships that had evil in them.

This was one of those times he was inclined to tell the woman how stupid she was for bringing up this idea but she wasn't very smart right now.

Personally, if he had been in her shoes he would have walked out of his life and lived a perfect and happy life trying to heal and live his mortal life away from getting into another toxic relationship again.

But she was not that smart. Instead she was trying to make her ex boyfriend jealous by also getting married.

The urge to advise her was strong but as before he was here for the entertainment, not sentiment.

"Look, I know we just met and things like that but I think we can make this work. All we need to do is help me make him jealous and maybe come back to me. I want him to see us happy and having the best time of our lives and feel terrible for leaving me.

"It's not really a real marriage or anything like that but we can make it look real to the world out there. They would see us and want to be like us. They would fall in love because we are like the perfect couple.

"Of course I do have a few conditions that I want fulfilled. For example, no sex between us. That is a no go area. We will have a contract binding us so that we won't break out of character.

"The second is the part where you and I are not allowed to have relationships out of the other. This is important because if anyone out there found out you or I was cheating they would tell on us.

"I can't even imagine Jake finding out that you would be cheating on me. This would destroy our contract and it would also destroy my image. So no cheating. After our contract which would last… I don't really know how long but I'll let you know soon enough.

"Oh and we won't be telling anyone about our contract. The point of us getting married is to fool the world and not go around explaining ourselves. So whatever family or friends you have, do not tell them about our real relationship with each other."

The man watched her in amusement while she gave her conditions. They were a lot but they were the classic conditions for anyone planning to get involved in a contract marriage.

Any other addition would be a personal choice but these three were the classic rules. There were more classic rules which she missed but he knew she was too focused on revenge to know she had missed any.

"Also I'm sorry if this is catching you at a bad time but trust me it would be worth your time. With a handsome man like you I'm sure that bastard would be jealous to the core and would want to be back with me in no time.

"And don't worry, like I said I would make it worth your time. You should name your prize. How much do you want? I'm rich and I can pay you for your time."

This was a hilarious way to end a conversation he thought to himself.

He looked around the room to see where it was written that he was poor but could only find expensive and priceless artifacts around the room.

He had been around for years and had so many trade art pieces and collections, she could not afford him.

However, just because he had nothing to do and he was finding her a bit interesting, he decided to go with her demands.

What more could he lose apart from staying in his room and brooding for more years.

"Fine," he sighed, waving her off. "I agree with your conditions."

"Thank you so much!" she yelled in excitement and disbelief that he had actually agreed. "What made you decide to go with me on this crazy plan?"

He was glad she knew it was crazy. This plan was a suicidal one. While he was a demon and would recover quickly, for her it was a suicidal one.

"The prize money I guess," he yawned again before she found him to be sarcastic. She looked around the room to see that money was not a problem for him.

"You're lying," she sighed. "This is just a joke to you."

"Gee, what gave it away?" he smiled internally knowing she was catching on pretty quick.

"Either way, I'm glad you've decided to be my man. And even if it is fake, I am really honored to have you propose to me," she said, ignoring his sarcastic and wise remarks.

"Whoa, no one said anything about a proposal," he sat up quickly.

"Did you think we were going to get married without a proposal? How would people believe us?"

"That's the thing. It doesn't matter. You can announce the proposal without dragging me into giving you a ring."
