Heart of the Land

They walked for hours on end without getting hungry or tired which was strange to the woman.

 

She felt the magic all around her but it was still strange for her.

 

They entered a clearing to see a hut with a man feeding a dragon some goats which seemed to have snakes for horns.

 

She was about to go forward when the demon grabbed her and carried her back into the forest. They stayed there watching the man look around like he had heard them.

 

"They haven't spotted us yet," whispered the demon. "Let's just get out of here and not worry about asking him for directions."

 

"What? No way," she whispered back. "We need to know where we are. We could clearly be lost."

 

"I'm a demon and I am always ahead of my surroundings. We are not lost. We came from that direction," he said, turning to see that the landscape had changed like a maze. They were now lost.
