He used to wonder why Ellen Young couldn't fall for someone as good-looking as him.
Now that he finally heard the answer from Ellen's own lips, he found it both amusing and slightly sigh-worthy, "So it's really because I'm handsome, and after realizing no one around you has a face like mine, you grudgingly accepted me?"
"That's not quite it."
Ellen's expression was indifferent, and she wasn't melodramatic when it came to matters of the heart, she simply described her feelings with a hint of emphasis: "At first, I just thought you were clueless, but now that I think about it, I never had any feelings of dislike towards you from the beginning. I've never really disliked anyone, but maybe it's because you've been hanging around me for so long."
Ruffy Smith nodded, "Mhm, I'm thick-skinned."
If he hadn't been thick-skinned, he wouldn't have been able to chase down a wife.
