Chapter 7: Has He Gone Mad?

"Madam!" Xingzhi went out to call others, while Liu Ya, with a delight that was hardly concealed, called Sang Wan, and rubbing her hands together in excitement, kept her voice low and firmly said, "Madam, rest assured, this slave will certainly learn carefully!"

Sang Wan softly smiled, "No need to rush, take it slow!"

Just as she was finished dressing up, she heard a young maid hurriedly come in and reported, "Madam, Miss Gu has arrived!" There was an indescribable excitement in her voice. The rest of the maids, upon hearing that, looked uniformly in Sang Wan's direction.

They are all waiting for the show!

"Has my cousin arrived? Please invite her in!" Sang Wan sneered in her heart, but her face showed nothing as she gently commanded, pretending like it was only her cousin who had arrived.

In her opinion, isn't that the case?

"My dear cousin-in-law! Congratulations, cousin-in-law!" Before finishing her sentence, Gu Fangzi, accompanied by Lan Xiang, came in graceful steps. Holding her hands together at her left waist side, she elegantly bent her knee towards Sang Wan in a respectful greeting and said with a sweet laugh, "I came without an invitation, my dear cousin-in-law, please don't mind!"

"How could I! Please, cousin, don't be overly courteous!" Sang Wan quickly supported her with a smile, leading her inside where they sat down together. While one of the maids was serving tea, Sang Wan laughed and said, "Actually, I wanted someone to chat with. By coincidence, you came! I have a poor grasp on speech, so cousin, please don't find this boring!"

"On the contrary, my cousin-in-law is too polite!" Gu Fangzi gently giggled as they exchanged glances.

After taking a sip of tea, Gu Fangzi closely observed Sang Wan and said earnestly, "My dear cousin-in-law looks a bit tired. Didn't you have enough rest? For us women, our bodies are the most important. Everything else can be compromised, but not one's health. Please don't worry too much. When it's time to rest, please rest well! Aunt Wang is very kind, especially when dealing with others. She certainly won't cause a fuss over anything! As time goes by, you will surely understand!"

Listened to Gu Fangzi's gentle and caring voice, Sang Wan felt a sense of deja vu. It was the same in her past life; Gu Fangzi's enthusiasm was as warm as fire, she seemed to be caring for her wholeheartedly, far surpassing Shi Fengju's treatment towards her! Regarding Mother-in-law's temperament and preferences, It was also through Gu Fangzi's words that she learned about them, and as a result, she acted accordingly, which only led to Mother-in-law disliking her more and more!

Sang Wan thought about it and found it somewhat amusing, yet she admired Gu Fangzi more. Gu Fangzi was indeed an intelligent woman, who skillfully used various little tricks that got Sang Wan fooled terribly each time. But each time, Gu Fangzi managed to keep her own hands clean!

Gu Fangzi was not wrong, all the faults were with Sang Wan herself.

"Thank you for your concern, cousin! By the way, where were you before coming here?", Sang Wan asked with a smile.

Gu Fangzi was a little surprised that Sang Wan did not take the opportunity to inquire about Aunt Wang, even though she was her legal mother-in-law. The attitude of the mother-in-law directly determines her status in the house. Isn't she worried? Or has she already made her preparations?

"I was just in the garden. The weather is good, so I thought to pick a few early-blooming flowers for Aunt Wang. Unfortunately, I haven't found any suitable ones but chanced upon Ningyuan, so I came to visit you!", Gu Fangzi replied with an affable smile.

"Is that so?" Sang Wan's eyes brightened, then she smiled and asked, "Turns out Mother-in-law likes flowers, do you know which one she likes the most?"

Seeing Sang Wan falling into her trap, Gu Fangzi was secretly pleased, so she chatted with her for a while, then, promised to visit her again the next day before leaving.

Sang Wan naturally agreed wholeheartedly, and saw her off with a smile. As for the various looks thrown by the maids, she turned a blind eye.

She wishes that if anyone lacks the awareness and audacity to mock her, there would be a good reason to punish them as an example.

Whether she is liked or not is her own matter, Mrs. Wang and Shi Fengju certainly would not like to see a servant in the house climbing atop their heads and behaving disrespectfully.

At lunch, Shi Fengju indeed arrived. His timing was very precise, exactly at the time of lunch in the household. The dishes did not need to be kept warm with the insulated food box from the kitchen, but were served directly on the table.

"I was dealing with something in the study just now." Shi Fengju coughed and said lightly.

Sang Wan was slightly taken aback. Was this an explanation for his hurried departure earlier?

However, she certainly wouldn't decline his goodwill. More importantly, his words were heard by the servants, which was always good.
