Ares' eyes clouded with annoyance, and he took a small step back from her, his lower lip clenched in thought as her words replayed in his mind. Without a word, he turned to leave the dining room, but paused at the threshold, glancing back over his shoulder.

Eleanor remained standing, her eyes flaring with intense hostility, as if he were her greatest foe. Yet, his lips curled into a small smile, his eyes gleaming with mischief.

"Little bird," he whispered, his voice low and velvety.

Her face fell into a deep frown, her glowing eyes flashing with an intense, fiery light. "Stop calling me that,"

Ares turned to face her fully, a nod acknowledging her request. "Do you recall when I said we're getting married in thirty days?"
