959. Avoiding me like I'm a plague god

Elly Campbell knew that Adam Jones was intentionally keeping his distance from her because of the incident that morning.

She didn't press him for answers or accuse him, knowing she had to give him time to think things through.

But she had given him a whole day, and even after dinner had passed, and the trial was halfway done, Adam still hadn't returned, Elly was starting to get annoyed.

She didn't continue to wait for him; after she had washed up, she went to bed and slept.

It wasn't until the middle of the night that she was vaguely awakened by the movement of being covered with a blanket.

Groggily opening her eyes, she saw the night light was on in the room. Elly glanced at the wall clock and realized it was already past one in the morning.

"You're back?"

Adam hadn't expected Elly to wake up at this time. Caught off guard, he froze for a moment, then, feeling guilty, nodded.

"Yeah, I'm back. Did I wake you up?"

"No, I got enough sleep."
