Chapter 10: An Old Enemy

Garnet POV

TWO DAYS LATER

The cool of the evening surrounded Garnet and soothed her, the wind rushing past her as she ran in wolf form. It was so freeing to move with ease, the way her wolf body was designed to do.

Dane’s warriors and the Crimsontails fanned out around her and Jiro, covering the area, with Jiro sending thoughts to both teams of warriors through the mind-link. She could hear the talk as well and wondered why that was. Normally, different packs couldn’t communicate via mind-link, but she and Jiro were mates, so maybe he acted as a bridge. She made a mental note to ask him about that.

He moved with grace, the red fur rippling and waving as he did. His eyes glowed red as well, and he seemed perfectly content to keep moving. They wouldn’t rest until after they crossed the border into Crimsontail territory, but Jiro didn’t seem tired. She kept one eye on him and the other on the waves of grass ahead of them.
