Chapter 16: The Shadows of the Past

*A/N: Many excellent articles and books talk about the signs of demonic infestation. That said, I am NOT a demonologist or a member of the clergy.*

Garnet POV

Her entire being felt full of darkness. Her feet moved as if she had chains on them. Thankfully, she no longer had a blindfold around her eyes.

Cyran had summoned demons in their father’s office.

Cyran had plotted to use Lilia as a pretext to invade the Evenhide territory, once he provoked them into fighting a war. Dozens if not hundreds of wolves on both sides could have lost their lives needlessly.

Her blood boiled and her claws shot out. When she took a swipe at the air, she felt better.

“Girl! You could gouge someone’s eyes out,” the pack Wise Woman chided her.

She blinked, recognizing her surroundings. The Great Hall had none of the ugly statues. Cyran hadn’t touched it in any way since their parents’ deaths. Maybe the portraits of their ancestors made him behave.
