Owen Moreland scrutinized the sapphire necklace under the light.

Crafted in platinum, the two sapphires were of superior quality—the eyeball-sized gem in particular clearly indicated its hefty value, something that didn't seem likely to come from a family like Amelia Clarke's.

"Very valuable," he offered his candid appraisal.

"Really?" Amelia instinctively doubted it, aware of her family's financial situation and the unlikelihood of them possessing expensive jewelry.

But what Owen said couldn't be false.

"Is it really that valuable? Could it be sold for eighteen million?"

"Thinking of selling it again?" Owen chuckled, about to hand the necklace back to Amelia when he caught sight of letters engraved on the inner edge of the eye-shaped outline. They were small and concealed, easy to miss if one wasn't careful.
