Amanda Smith saw him and glanced over at Mrs. Johnson not far away, who was crying a river of tears and snot. She didn't know what had happened, but seeing Mrs. Johnson cry like that, she could guess that Samuel Johnson must have said something terrible just now.
She decided not to meddle in the matter and silently retracted her gaze, shaking her head at Samuel Johnson, "I'm feeling stifled in the room, I want to take a walk downstairs."
Behind the hospital was a large lawn, specifically for the rehabilitation and leisure strolls of hospitalized patients. Amanda Smith had nothing better to do and, since she couldn't be discharged yet, she wanted to walk alone downstairs. She didn't expect Samuel Johnson to return so soon.
"It's quite late..." Samuel Johnson started to say but didn't continue. He went back into the room to get a coat for Amanda Smith to put on, then took her slightly cold hand and said, "Let's go. I'll walk with you."
