Chapter 17 A Familiar Figure, It's a Man_1

After dinner, everyone was still very enthusiastic. Liang Qiaoqiao took the initiative to invite everyone to a nearby KTV for singing.

Nanxi was slightly tipsy and wanted to refuse, but Liang Qiaoqiao stated that there might not be many more opportunities for such gatherings in the future. Therefore, they shouldn't dampen everyone's spirit, and reassured them that they had nothing to worry about with her there!

The KTV they went to was "Wheatfield," a renowned high-end KTV in H City with top-tier services and a tranquil environment. Naturally, the cost was quite steep.

Nanxi felt somewhat sympathetic towards the expenses Liang Qiaoqiao was incurring. Even Yang Su—a wealthy heiress—thought the consumption here was too extravagant. She suggested with a smile, "Sister Qiaoqiao, I know there's another decent KTV around here. The service isn't too shabby, and the prices are affordable…"

Liang Qiaoqiao pulled Yang Su aside, flashed a gold card in front of everyone, and refuted, "Wherever I am, you youngsters don't need to worry about footing the bill. We're going to this one... Come on in, don't spoil my mood!"

Nanxi thought that Liang Qiaoqiao was remarkably generous tonight... more so than she had ever been before!

Upon entering the private room, Zhang Mu and Yang Su, both frequented singers, quickly chose their songs. They also asked Nanxi about her song choice...

Nanxi shook her head in denial; she wouldn't sing!

She didn't consider herself a good singer and therefore didn't have many songs she could sing well.

Although Li Weihuan had once told her that she sang beautifully!

Having drank too much, Nanxi felt somewhat uncomfortable. She sipped on a glass of water, which eased her throat dryness a bit. However, it also led to her excusing herself to the bathroom. Lan Qiqi, seeing her unsteady on her feet, offered to accompany her, but Liang Qiaoqiao stopped her, "I'm also heading to the washroom, you stay and sing!"

Nanxi was indeed quite drunk. The warmth from the alcohol was making her feel rather uncomfortable, particularly in her stomach.

Liang Qiaoqiao supported Nanxi as they walked towards the restroom. She seemed to be saying something, but Nanxi's foggy mind couldn't comprehend it...

When they finally reached the restroom, Liang Qiaoqiao helped her stand steady. Nanxi looked at the reflection in the mirror, found it familiar, thought for a moment, and realized that it was her own reflection...

However, why did it seem so unsteady, as if she couldn't focus...

Nanxi tried to look more closely–she leaned in. Suddenly, a wave of nausea surged up from her stomach, and she began to vomit into the wash basin.

A gentle hand started patting her back lightly yet with strength. 'Must be my cousin,' Nanxi thought.

Nanxi furrowed her brow as another wave of acidity rose from her stomach, leading her to vomit again. Tears rolled down her face with the vomit, causing her to suddenly feel wronged...

"I told… I can't hold my liquor!" she muttered as she rinsed her mouth.

Her tears didn't stop; she felt miserable inside.

She had only experienced the aftermath of drunkenness once before, that was the night before Li Weihuan left for the United States. That night, Li Weihuan was drunk, and so was she, but that drunkenness was different from her current state.

That drunk evening was filled with Li Weihuan's presence. She remembered how Li Weihuan had kissed her lips intensely and held her as he said in a hoarse voice:

"Nanxi, I truly don't want to leave you. This unwillingness urges me to take you with me, but I know that even if I take you, I wouldn't be able to provide you with happiness. So, for the sake of your happiness, I must... temporarily let you go…"

"Nanxi…" A clear, pleasant voice prompted. Nanxi was taken aback. That voice seemed familiar and... it sounded like a man!

Nanxi froze, could it be a man? Wasn't it Liang Qiaoqiao?

Nanxi turned her face; her eyes were still watery. And then, a man's face reflected in her pupils…
