Phoenix woke up to a headache, she held her head in pain and sluggishly sat up. She stretched her arms and then twisted her neck in an attempt to crack it. With confused eyes she scanned the room, there were drops of water on the floor, leading from the kitchen. She could imagine how worried Paisley must have been to spill water all over the floor.
Phoenix reached for a glass of water that Paisley so thoughtfully left for her and took a sip, as she tried to recall what had happened.
Earlier - Her head ached the same way in the morning and the black towel floated the same way the phone did... the only difference was that she did not faint. She could not understand what had happened or what the mark on her back meant. But she knew there was something about her either from her past or relating to her future.
Phoenix turned to look at the bedroom and found it empty, right on cue Paisley opened the bathroom door holding a small towel."I got you a towel, sorry about the water. I was really worried when I saw you faint." Paisley said as she walked down the stairs.
She sat beside Phoenix and passed her the towel. She reached out her hands to stroke Phoenix's hair, her dark eyes watching Phoenix's movements.
Her brown curly hair lay on her shoulders, and with her small structure, she looked weak. It was hard to imagine that such a person was extremely strong.
- That was her power,
For generations, her family has been known for their unpredictable strength in martial arts making them an unshakeable force. She pursed her lips that were covered in red lipstick - her latest obsession. Wondering how she would explain things to Phoenix, they sat in silence.
One confused and the other unable to explain, each in their world.
Phoenix's eyes continued to scan the room eventually landing on the cracked phone that had been kicked to the side, noticing her gaze Paisley stood up, dusted the invisible dust off her green combat trousers, and walked to pick up the phone. She sat back down, placing the phone on the small black center table.
She sighed, squeezing her right palm as tho it would give her the courage to explain things to Phoenix. 'TAKE IT SLOW.." she murmured to herself in a voice that only she could hear. With a low cough, she cleared her voice and called out to the other girl,
"Phoenix.." She started "If I'm not wrong... It was not a dream, you made it float with your mind" Phoenix turned her neck quickly, too quickly that it pained her. Despite the pain, she didn't flinch, all her mind was on what her friend said. "what do you mean?" Phoenix widened her eyes, she couldn't understand what she meant. How could she possibly move those things with her thoughts.. it was impossible in her opinion. Although she saw the items float, she couldn't possibly move them. After all, she does not have any power like the people in movies.
"I'm serious, think about it for a second" She watched Phoenix's eyes move around in thought then widen in shock. "from what I know, the items must have floated whenever you thought about the position it, right?" Questioned Paisley. Phoenix nodded slowly, her face twisted in fright. 'Indeed the towel floated when I thought about it.... so did the phone.' she whispered lowly.
"Calm down it's fine, nothing is wrong with you," Paisley said, seeing Phoenix's face twist in shock. "And how do you know what this is?" Phoenix asked squinting her eyes, instantly making her entire skin cover in goosebumps.
"well....." she started then stopped not knowing how to continue. Her parents had already instructed her to reveal things to Phoenix once her powers started to surface. Phoenix gestured with her hands for her to continue, She took a deep breath then pulled up the sleeves of her long black sleeve to her elbow. Right above her elbow was a brown slash, it wasn't long or huge almost invisible.
Phoenix leaned in and took a look, she looked back at Paisley moving her gaze at the two, she stared at Paisley, her eyes asking if the small almost invisible slash was the answer to her question.
Did she look like a five-year-old child that could easily be deceived?
Understanding Phoenix's gaze, Paisley stood up and pointed her right hand at the wall beside the television shooting out a bright purple light from her palm at the wall, instantly burning a hole through it.
