When Scarlet opened her eyes, she discovered that she was standing in the center of a strange place.
She was no longer in that chaotic room; instead, an exquisite garden stood in front of her.
She also observed that she had changed into a modest yet sophisticated maroon Victorian dress.
She then recalls seeing the system flash and being informed that her reward for the quest [A date of the Sun] had been activated just before she passed out.
"They won't be angry or hurt me because I simply cursed them earlier, right?" She joked at herself then she snorted and continued, "Well, they deserve it for the times the system gives me death threats."
Minutes later, she noticed that she appeared to be alone here, so she chose to follow the white marble path in front of her out of curiosity.
As she passes through the beautiful garden, she can't help but be enthralled by the many rose varieties and sizes that bloom exquisitely among the verdant hedges and bushes that fill the air with a sophisticated fragrance. And upon arriving at the path's end, she noticed a gorgeously designed gazebo. The gazebo has smooth white marble pillars, a clear glass ceiling that creates a rainbow effect when sunlight strikes it, a beautiful crystal chandelier hanging on it, and a marble table and chair in the center filled with confectionery.
"Do you like it?"
Scarlet instantly turned to face the person who had inquired, and as she looked him in the face, she couldn't help but raise an eyebrow because she felt she had seen this person before.
"Sister, don't you miss me?" He asked again.
A young boy, perhaps twelve years old, is standing in front of her, his head tilted cutely. She and the boy shared similar features, including a small triangle face, long and narrow nose, slightly plump lips, and a pair of upturned eyes. The boy likewise had black hair and red eyes. He had soft features, almost like a male version of her. In addition, he wore black high-waisted shorts, boots, and a white shirt with flounce sleeves.
"Who are you?" Scarlet asked warily as her gaze strayed over the area in search of a potential escape path.
"Eh? "Sister, have you forgotten about Castell?" The boy's eyes glowed a little with tears as he pouted.
Scarlet was taken aback when the boy said his name and that is reason why he seems familiar.
Castell Leigh Vhon Salvatore.
From what she remembered, Castell was the original owner of this body's younger brother. He was kind and charming, although a sickly. As the queen's only son, he was constantly the subject of royal harem battles. Coupled with his delicate body and the brutal struggle for the throne, the young boy died at the age of nine caused her biological sister [Scarlet] much sorrow.
However here he is, smiling broadly, standing before her.
'No. This isn't him.'
[Scarlet] had seen with her own eyes how his younger brother died after drinking the poison.
With that thought, she tried to compose herself.
'Since Castor had already passed away, it was impossible for him to be here, and she had been sent to this weird location, thus this must be an illusion, and it must be Illuminus.' She concluded.
Content with her conclusion, she turns to face Castell, who is adorably swinging his body while he watches her intently, waiting for her response.
She smiled in response, "I haven't forgotten about Castell."
It is accurate to say that [Scarlet] had never forgotten about the boy; some of her memories indicate that she never missed an opportunity to visit her mother's and brother's graves on the anniversary of their deaths.
"But I have never met the almighty God of Sun, Illuminus, so I can't say that I miss him." She continued, glancing at the little kid who, upon hearing her response, abruptly changed his behavior in front of her.
"HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA" Clutching his stomach and wiping his phony tears, the young boy laughed loudly.
You're quite feisty, don't you? She rolled her eyes at Illuminus's amused tone as he said, "I am beginning to like you now."
"Oh for heaven's sake, please don't do that," she said, unimpressed, which caused the god to laugh out once more.
"Nyx did a great job selecting you, haha."
Scarlet can't help but get curious from what he had said; she wanted to ask more Illuminus raised her hand in front of her with a smile.
"Three questions and three answers." He replied as he casually walked up to the table and settled into a comfortable chair with his right leg raised.
"Do you want to sit down, player?" He gestured to the seat in front of him while grinning sweetly.
After giving him a close look for a minute, Scarlet made the decision to move and take a seat on the chair. As she did so, she noticed Illuminus eating a small piece of bread topped with chocolate and berries.
Scarlet glanced at the desserts displayed on the table, which primarily consisted of bread topped with chocolate and fruit, sugar cubes, and a bowl of honey.
According to what she recalls, the majority of the food is really bland, and the culinary techniques used here are essentially limited to roasting, boiling, and baking, thus the food quality is just mediocre.
Even baking is different from baking on "Earth," where bread typically has a light, fluffy texture rather than being hard and coarse. Additionally, this presents a significant problem for her as a foodie and previous restaurant owner who loves to cook.
"So, what would you like to know?" With two hands beneath his chin, Illuminus winked.
Scarlet grimaces as she considers her questions carefully. To be honest, she had plenty, but this cheap god is stingy.
She grabbed the sugar cube to help her relax and tasted it, but it was so sweet that she had to grimace instead. As she replaces the sugar cube, she can't help but shudder.
In contrast to sugar on Earth, which is derived from sugar cane or sugar beets, which are widely available, sugar in this world is manufactured from the crystallized "saliva" of a carnivorous plant that is extremely rare and highly dangerous. When Scarlet remembers that information, she shudders once more and hopes to find plants or animals that resemble the ones on Earth or that look normal as for ingredients when she is going to cook.
"Why are you taking so long?" Illuminus asked in a bored tone.
Scarlet rolled her eyes and looked at him with no interest and she didn't respond to him. She needs to carefully watch what she going to says because she has no idea if this stingy god is going to scam her.
'But I believe I had the questions in mind already.'
Scarlet cleared her throat and inhaled deeply.
"My first question," she said, causing the bored god to become excited.
"Why did you choose me?" She went on.
Despite having a few minor regrets, she never desired a second life, a return to the past, or anything similar; she simply wanted to pass away peacefully. She even wrote a will stating that all of her money would be donated to various charities upon her death, so why pick her among the many people who wish to be reincarnated or transported to a different world?
Illuminus chuckled.
"Being one is already your fate."
She frowned as he gave her a vague response.
'Thank you for responding; it just made my questions increased.' She mocks in her mind.
"What is your next question?" Even though Illuminus was beaming broadly at her, she responded to him by pretending to smile.
"Am I the real Scarlet of this world?"
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
Watching the cheap god laugh wildly, Scarlet couldn't help but raise an eyebrow.
'What's wrong with that question?' she wondered, offended by the loud laughter.
She had read numerous books, comics, and television programs about transmigration; some of these featured plots in which the main character was the same person or the original soul of the person who they suddenly possessed. She was only just making sure if she is one too because it would greatly affect her, particularly given her body's past, but this cheap god thinks she is joking.
"Hahaha….Wait…hahha. Let me catch my breath for a second…Hahaha." Illuminus pleaded in between chuckles. In contrast, Scarlet is attempting to control her rage by preventing her body from slapping this cheap god with the plate full of desserts.
A few minutes later, the laughter subsided, but the young boys' playful expression remained.
"What conspiracies have you formed to ask a question like that, Player?"
Scarlet was just one step away from slapping him when he made fun of it.
"And to answer your question, player, no, you are not," he continued.
Scarlet squinted when she heard his response, which gave her a clue.
'Again, he called me a player.'
However, Illuminus spoke before she had a chance to think about it.
"Anyway, we're running out of time, so please ask your final question," he said, fluttering his eyelashes at him and clasping his hands together.
Scarlet couldn't help but let out a 'tsk'.
'This god is not only cheap, but obnoxious,' she remarked, but she took a deep breath before responding.
"Is [Scarlet] dead or still alive?"
The expression of the boy seated in front of her caught Scarlet's attention which abruptly became serious.
"[Scarlet] had already died but [Scarlet] is also alive."
She couldn't help but scowl at his evasive response. There are numerous possibilities, but at this time, she could only think of three; 1. [Scarlet] is an undead, 2. There could be two [Scarlet] and 3. Or someone had possibly resurrected her.
However, those words also cause her great deal of stress and perhaps even anxiety that the former [Scarlet] will harm them and disrupt her tranquil life, which she is planned, particularly that she is also possible involve with Demons emerge in the kingdoms
On that note, she had a gut feeling that the system would lead her to the answers, which is why she didn't question this cheap god about the demons. Additionally, she wants to solve these mysteries gradually and is not in a rush.
"Aww…our date already ended. Nice meeting you by the way. Bye." Illuminus muttered, pouting.
But the cheap god didn't even give her time to say anything before her vision turned dark and she fainted again.
