Chapter 13 – Taka Vincent, a Knight

Third person POV

It's now summer time for Akira and Hachi. While their classmates would go and either have fun for themselves or help out in farms, Akira and Hachi went on a different path for the entire summer vacation: go to Tokyo and work for the Shibata Supernatural Agency. The reason and motivation behind this strange decision is not for the money through salaries, but revenge for their dead loved ones. They wanted revenge so their loved ones' souls would be in peace. Hachi reveals to Akira about his parents' death and its alleged connection to the Kara Tech. So, they tell this plan to Akira's family. Akira was confident at this. Then, just as Kae, Ian, and Miki would comment on that, Taka came home from Tokyo. "I'm home!"

They then all looked at him.

"Welcome back home, Taka-kun," Kae greeted delightfully.

Akira then ran towards him to give him a hug. "Big brother, I missed you so much!"

"I know, I know, Akira-kun," Taka said to him.

 "How are you?"

Hachi looked at Taka and was stunned at his gentle nature. "So this is Akira-kun's older brother..."

Then, Taka looked at Hachi. "Woah, you must be Hachi, right?"

 "Y-Yes," Hachi replied.

In response to that, Taka discharged from hugging and went closer to Hachi. "Well, hello there, Hachi-kun. I'm Taka Vincent. Nice to meet you."

He then gave him a handshake.

Hachi was hesitant at first, but he eventually gave in. "Nice to meet you, too, Takani-chan."

He created that nickname just now.

Discharging from handshaking, Taka was delighted to hear such a lovely nickname from his new, adoptive younger brother. "Wow, that was a good name for me!"

Hachi was a bit nervous to see his expression since he has trust issues.

Then, seeing this, Akira gave a scolding to his older brother, "Oni-chan, don't scare him like that. He has trust issues because of his history as a failed experiment."

Taka, having known about Hachi's past from his family, then turned around. "I'm sorry. I'm just excited to see my new younger brother."

Later, at lunch time, the entire family are at the dining table eating and drinking in celebration of Taka's return from Tokyo, where he was a college student.

"Wow, you and Akira-kun are about the same age, right?" Taka asked.

"Yes, they are, dear," Ian replied back.

"We'll do anything for him," Kae added, "against those who will take him back."

"Yeah, mom and dad, if those people mess with us," Taka agreed with them strongly, "our powerful relatives will teach them a lesson."

Akira was a bit precarious about his family background.

But Hachi heard that, and he asked Akira, "Um, our relatives are that rich and powerful?"

"Yes, our paternal uncle is currently the president of the Philippines," Akira answered while admitting.

He knows that all his life.

Because of his new family's background, Hachi was shocked and then, felt a bit proud of it without any bad pride.

After lunch, Taka rested a bit at his bedroom, which he had never seen ever since he left home for college, while Akira and Hachi are at Akira's room playing video games and reading books until 3 in the afternoon. At that time, they, Miki, and Taka went out to Okutama's marketplace to spent some time together as siblings. Their parents are at work, with Kae conducting summer classes for a handful of students who didn't finish the last semester. As they walk together, Taka asked his siblings how are they the whole time when he was gone.

"Fine as usual," Akira replied back.

"How about the time when your best friend was found dead?" Taka asked back. "Did you move on that?"

"For the most part, yeah," Akira answered back. "In fact, I wanted to seek revenge for his death."

 "Okay, how?"

"By joining a detective agency as a part-timer so I could gain some experience along the way."

This surprises Taka a lot because he never heard any future career plan from his younger brother. "Okay, what? A detective agency? As a part-timer?"

"Well, yes, Takani-chan." Hachi chimed in. "We were inspired by a biracial detective who was a senior detective in that agency."

"Wait, how did you know all that?"

"They actually went to Tokyo after Hachini-chan was being tracked down," Miki responded.

 "Woah, what? How?"

Akira and Hachi then revealed to Taka how that happened.

Moments later, Taka was shocked to hear all that. Then, to calm things down, they all went to a milk tea stand to buy some milk tea in chocolate, ube, and coconut flavors and went to a nearby set of table and benches to enjoy their time and so Akira and Hachi would explain further in detail. After that, Taka calms down after hearing how they know all about the Shibata Supernatural Agency. "Okay then, sure, if you want to. When you two will leave for Tokyo?"

To that Akira and Hachi think for a while, before one of them said, "Tomorrow morning. We have to ask our friend, Toshi-san, for an interview for us."

"I see. Good luck with that, you two."

"Thanks, knight," Akira said to Taka.

He calls him a knight because of his bravery and standing up for him and Miki.

But then, Aiko and her two friends are watching them from the distance, and they commented how stupid and dumb they are for not fitting in society, despite how much society in Japan has been changed a few decades ago. But, Taka sensed that, and he turned towards the three girls with a glaring look on his face. This causes Aiko and her two friends to get scared and ran away.

"What was that, oni-chan?" Hachi asked him.

Looking at them with a normal on his face, Taka responded nicely, "Oh, just someone making a bad comment on us."

But then, Akira figured out that it was Aiko and her two friends who spotted them. "Um, was Aiko-chan and her two friends looking at us? Because they always looked down on me."

"Yes," Taka replied back, "because I know they always do that on those who are on the bottom of the economic ladder."

Akira was smart at figuring out, but he actually had a long history of being a genius, starting from kindergarten.
