It’s the year 2073, and everything has changed. New high-tech dominates almost all aspects of life. However, this has a dark side: unethical human experiments.
  17-year-old Akira Cruz, the genius nephew of the president of the Philippines, was in the middle of grieving for his late best friend when he stumbled upon an abandoned orphan boy in the mountains while on a hike with his younger sister. That boy is Hachi Shimizu, a half-zombie, half-vampire who was disposed of by an evil organization known as the Kara Tech, which was notorious for its brutal and unethical experiments.
  Together, the two boys team up with a detective named Toshi Kawasaki, a half-Japanese, half-British who specializes in the supernatural and also considers the murder case of Akira’s best friend open despite the police closing it due to a lack of evidence. The three of them believed that Kara Tech was somehow connected to the disappearances of various children in and around the Tokyo Metropolitan Area. As they go and solve cases, their friendship blossoms, especially when two people,  Riho Yoshihara, Akira's childhood, biracial friend, and Htet Kawa, a half-Japanese, half-Burmese junior detective from Yokohama, come along in their various missions, both involving the supernatural and the overworld. Will they stop the organization from committing more heinous crimes before it’s too late?

My Best Friend is a Hybrid

Hearing that, Hachi shivered from top to bottom despite being unfazed by horror video games he and Akira played back at home. "What? That entity? How come?"

"It's just my hypothesis, Hachi," Akira responded back. "It can be any yokai or entity that has an intention of abducting people."

"That might be it," Valentino half-agreed with him.

"Okay then," Hachi responded while calming down.

Later after that, they went to the scene to where the second victim was last seen, which was another alleyway being surrounded by buildings on both sides. Again the same description matches the one who was said to have abducted the second victim. Because of the identical description of the possible modus operandi, Akira hypothesized that Kuchisake-Onna was the one who did it. Valentino and Hachi are skeptical, yet curious.

With all that, they went to a nearby restaurant down the street to eat a quick lunch while discussing about the possible suspect or suspects.

"How did you know it was Kuchisake-Onna who did it?" Valentino asked Akira.

"Well," Akira replied while thinking, "I know that entity is known for asking people if she was pretty due to her long mouth. There are lot of stories about her, but had the same outcome of her appearance."

"Do you think she would just ask that question to those two victims and then abducted them and disappear?" Hachi raised a question.

"I think so, Hachi-kun," Akira responded while dipping a piece of rolled sushi into a plate of soy sauce before eating it.

"That might be fallible," Valentino said with some skepticism before sipping on his glass of water with ice cubes.

Akira then moved the documents on the table in an orderly and logical matter while trying to save space as he could since they are in a table for four.

Hachi and Valentino then began to think about Kuchisake-Onna's being the possible suspect.

Valentino, however, was doubting Akira's intelligence. He only got vague information of his smartness from Toshi and Masashi, and he wants to prove that it was true.

Eventually, after lunch, the three of them left the restaurant and went on their way for the case. They began asking people about Kuchisake-Onna's whereabouts.

Chapter 19 – The Entity of People’s Opinions
