"Black priest?.. that sounds impressive" Louis evaluated the height of the boons power based on it's name. But soon he had to quickly revaluate his evaluation,
The black priest in it's low generations which corresponds to generation 1 to generation 3, is about possessing intricate spells and unique abilities, strong physical constitution and enhanced senses.
Louis once again felt an ocean of excitement brush through him, as the thought of possessing such power greatly intrigued him.
Louis closed his eyes, letting the newly obtained knowledge to assimilate with the one he already had.
With that louis "Put" the book away, his hand on his head removing the crown on it, _i gonna ask, why do I always have a crown? Does it have some significance with the emperor channel?.. hmm. I wonder what deity corresponds to the emperor channel?_ louis reined in his thoughts, he had obtained knowledge of the low generation manual of the black priest, but he wasn't yet in a hurry to dive in, instead he opted to explore the plains some more.
Louis stretched out, and with a kick off, he dived down.
Bam!
Brown smoke filled the air as louis stood up from a mountain of debris and dirt.
Glancing around, the smoke cleared out revealing a view that once again sent shivers down Louis, "Hahaha! As expected, this place does change everytime I attain beholder knowledge"
Before Louis was a giant door, towering at 2 Meters, it's visage was filled with intricate runes with a dark gray taint as it's color.
Though louis would describe it as a door, it was more of a gate!
A structure fit to be open by the giants of legends.
"Now what would you be?.. a gate. So maybe it leads to somewhere else? Another part of the space? Outside? Or a whole different realm...Hmm, why isn't there a manual for this!" Louis circled round the Gate, trying his outmost to crack the meaning of the runes and symbols written on the door.
Some of them were of doors within doors, circles within circles, snakes devouring themselves and many more that Louis couldn't even perceive accurately.
Staring at the door, Louis suddenly felt his head heatup, almost as if hot water had been downed on him,
"So staring to much isn't advised" louis made a deduction.
"Well am not gonna find anything looking at it, and as some might say, a door should be entered"
Taking in a deep breath, Louis readied himself for whatever he might find, in his hand an iron blade appeared..
He took slow steps towards the Gate, and with a gentle push the gate make a creaking sound and bright light shown from within it, blinding Louis.
...
In a dimly lit room, a lady lay on a bed, her eyes staring at the dark brown ceiling,
And with a sigh she said, "Again I got cheated. I thought perhaps it would work, but am still to naive. Did losing so much teach me nothing!?"
The fine lady had curly dark hair which cascaded down her hips, her eyes a shade of emerald green. She dressed in a light pink nightie, with her legs smooth, clear and certainly exposed.
The lady was Katerina of the Aurora family, who are one of the ruling families in all of conea, and right now she was once again feeling frustration over her failure to procure a boon manual.
She felt it was ironic, that the lady of the Aurora family was having a problem like getting beholder power. But this was caused by a decision her father made to stop her from merging with the beholder society,
"Damn it!" She cursed loudly, "am already of mature age, shouldn't I gain powers now?.. even if it isn't one of the main Orthodox channels, I can do with anything" her voice served to fill her up with more frustration she had imagined herself growing up as powerful beholder, who could split mountains, turn seas and cause miraculous effects.
Yet reality wasn't so kind, that even at the age of 19, she was yet to possess even a tale weapon, talk less of an actual beholder boon.
Katerina raised her hands to the air in frustration, "That's it. I give up. If am not meant to have powers, so be it."
Sulking quite obviously, she tucked in her light green blanket and dozed off into a deep slumber.
Suddenly, a faint echo of ethereal sounds resonated, and faint black smoke cleared pass her eyes.
...
"Now that's amazing"
Louis exclaimed at the sight before him.
A dark void made of black smoke stretched far and wide, within it tiny threads of gray and crimson swirled within. At the far edge of the space, a tree made of crimson twirling threads stood magnificent and lofty, it's body partially obstructed by the blank smoke that filled the space.
Their seemed to be no point of direction, no up, down, left or right, and Louis could only maintain his sanity due to the broken glass bridge he stood upon.
Staring at the great towering tree of crimson thread, Louis eyes brimmed with excitement. Something imaginable, amazing and impossible was before him. A scene that belonged solely to the Gods, yet a mere human was made preview to it.
Louis couldn't break contact from the lofty Tree, he was enchanted and yet felt it eerily familiar, of the source he didn't know why.
Louis caressed his hair with a smile played on his lips, "haha! Am fucking going mad!.. This...This is way to much, and way too soon.
Muffled sounds of thunder and lightning could be heard from all directions, emanating from the dark clouds that filled the space.
Louis felt a shiver engulf him, fear gripped his heart- he was frightened of this power, WHO held it and what THEY would do with it.
Louis, using both hands caressed his black hair, "Damn. Gods must be beyond powerful, the holy books can't even capture the terror of a deity... If a deity can command such a place, then who can imagine what sort of power they held.."
His eyes twitched, as his hands grabbed at his skull threatening to rip it open!
"Stop!" Louis shouted, his voice echoing from ever point, from a far distance and yet from a close point.
" What's going on?" Louis let go of his head, his hands shacking with deep terror and fear, "Did I get infected?" Louis traced his actions to the mysticism knowledge obtained from miss pisces.
Louis looked at the illusory tree of red threads, the space of black smoke which on certain intervals boomed with lighting, his mind suddenly buzzed,
"Perhaps I should just give up? I mean who am I to fight the forces that plague lohim? .. what.. what can i possibly do?" Louis suddenly paused, "heh, so I do get infected?"
He lowered his gaze from the ethereal tree, his eyes staring at the silver bridge of glass, which didn't stretch further, instead a few meters from where louis stood was a broken part.
Louis suddenly had an epiphany which he believed from mysticism and spiritism.
According to what he knew, due to the nature of a human soul in spiritism, it was possible to receive hidden knowledge from certain sources by simply being in contact with them. Yet, this was a risky move and 98 percent of those who experience it die from unusual causes.
And right now, his spirit was giving rise to a knowledge, "This place is connected to the black plains, or rather the black plain comes from this place. And i was only able to get here cause my connection with the black plains deepened with the aid of mysticism knowledge. But that won't happen again, my connection with it can only increase with the increase in my soul strength, which can only safely be done through boon cultivation"
Gasp!
Louis felt his hands tremble, he wasn't in control of his lips but yet was, the words came from him but yet did not.
Louis couldn't get used to that feeling, and frankly he didn't wish to.
Taking deep breaths, Louis attempted to calm his thoughts, but suddenly something emerged that sent his thoughts spiraling,
A crimson ethereal thread emerged before him, it's length stretching from one side of the space and another but yet seemed longer than that.
It's texture like that of multiple rough threads all intertwined into one.
Floating before Louis in a sea like motion, Louis felt a beckoning to it,
Unknown why, Louis stretched his hand towards the ethereal thread, his mind and body churning with trepidation, yet within all that, their was an unusual calmness - creating a strange mixture of emotions within him, causing beads of sweat to form on his head, yet a smile curled up on his lips.
Louis stretched for the thread, and at the moment he grabbed hold on it.
"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
The space of black smoke lit up in countless red explosions, the black smoke suddenly began to swirl around the explosions - seemingly engulfing them and swallowing them whole.
Soon the explosions died down, living only the subtle booms of lightning.
"Huff! Huff! Huff!.. Louis tried to catch his breath, his body perhaps reminiscent to a person who stood in the rain.
But then, echoing from a distance yet eerily near, louis could hear a subtle voice whose melodious tone gave louis the idea it belonged to a female,
Listening intently at the voice, Louis tried to catch it's meaning,
Speaking in traditional conea, "That's it. I give up. If am not meant to have powers, so be it."
Suddenly in Louis hand, the crimson thread grew in brightness, it's light temporarily blinding him and yet again Louis found himself in a different space,
It was a dimly lit room, with a medium sized bed on it's corner,
"What the hell are you!?" A voice screamed in terror,
Louis's eyes narrowed on the bed, there a black haired beauty stood, with emerald green eyes and tightly pursed lips, her cheeks had little of baby fat but that gave her a mature feel to her beauty,
Louis scanned the girl and felt a touch embarrassed,
She was still dressed in her nightie.
"I said who are you!?" The lady commanded again, an act to hide the fear and terror she felt for the being before her,
In her eyes, sitting on a chair was a blurry figure dressed in a hooded robe, his body screened by a deep black smoke and around his visage tiny threads of crimson swirled.
Katerina couldn't hold her fear, she felt like screaming out Loud, informing their family beholders of what was in her room.
Yet she didn't, calming her self she asked, "WHO are YOU?"
"Hmm?" Louis was startled, he had already discovered the strange State of his body, but what startled him was how fast the lady quickly composed herself, _Does she know about mysticism? That would probably be the only explanation. And she must know a great deal_
Louis looked back at the lady, he didn't need to control his expressions as he knew she couldn't see his face. But now he was in a dilemma, what could he make of this situation?
"I.. I asked WHO are YOU?" Katarina remained on guard, her senses alert and her lips ready to scream at the sight of anything strange.
Louis thought for a moment, _hmm? Am I really sweating this? Me? The trickster king? _ Louis mused inwards.
Looking back at the lady, Louis opened his mouth and spoke in a calm ethereal tone,
"Me? Just think of me as a merchant!"
Louis voice echoed through the room, sending cold shivers down Katarina.
She didn't know why, but HIS words seemed to echo from a distance but yet was eerily near.
"What do you want?" Katarina asked, her body still tense from fear.
"What I want? No. Its about what you want!"
