I'm ready

"You just have to be half as successful as Jason. Don't worry, I won't ask for more".

I looked at him and with a smile of determination, I said.

"Then I'm ready to be a worthy granddaughter-in-law".

I said but then, Grandpa began laughing. He was laughing so much it made me feel like I had made a fool of myself. Yet, I didn't let my face show defeat. I was ready to be shameless if that was what it would take for me to get back at my parents.

I have no idea why they were conspiring against me with Melissa but that didn't matter. I am more than ready to let them know that I no longer consider them my family.

"You don't seem fazed".

I heard Grandpa speak but I said nothing.

"Looking at you... I have always sensed a superior spirit eluding from you. I could tell from the start that you came from a humble background just like me but yet, you have the spirit of a leader, a ruler, and a boss".

I was still thinking about the difference between the three things he mentioned when he began to speak again.

"You make your own decisions and never let people ride on you. You might have a bit of insecurities but you haven't let it define you. At least not yet..."

He then paused for a while and continued.

"I believe it's time I introduced you to the world of great people".

He said and I raised one of my brows trying to fully understand what he meant. He then called in one of the guards who was standing guard by the door and whispered something in his ear. Soon enough, the guard rushed out and in a few minutes, the guard and a man wearing a suit came in.

The man looked like a lawyer or someone who was into law enforcement side. Like a legal practitioner.

"Good evening chairman".

He greeted respectfully when he came in and Grandpa responded.

"Hello, hello. Come on in".

He said and the man moved closer and took a seat close to Grandpa.

"Lawyer Patrick, this is my granddaughter. What I asked you to prepare is meant for her".

The lawyer looked at me and nodded showing that he understood what Grandpa was saying. He then opened his bag and brought out a file with documents.

He passed the documents to me and said.

"I will need you to sign this please".

He said and looking at it, my eye couldn't help but open wide.

"Hey!!"

Grandpa yelled making me adjust my eyes and look at him.

"Never show your expression so easily. People can't ride on what they do not know".

He said and I nodded my head.

"I'm giving you this little. Let's see how big you can make it grow within a year".

I wanted to laugh at the fact that he called this small but regardless, I could never be more grateful.

"I'll do my best Grandpa".

"Mmm... Your best can never be enough".

He said.

"Do what people will think is impossible".

He completed his statement.

I nodded in determination not to disappoint him.

Soon enough, the lawyer left and Grandpa was reading the news. I, on the other hand, kept looking at the content written on the document.

It didn't say much but I could see that I now had a building to my name and an entire company was bought in my name.

Although the company had issues with slush funds and the previous owner was now bankrupt, it was a big company that I could use to do whatever I wanted.

With imaginations building up in my mind, I dropped down the file and picked up my phone.

Grandpa had given me a year to prove myself but I knew I didn't have that much time. I could feel something special building up between Jason and me but I didn't want to keep my hopes up.

The contract was for seven months, and I have just four left. I will definitely do everything I can before then.

After picking my phone up, I decided to download books on how to start a business. I was more than determined to make this work but the truth was I didn't have a vast knowledge of to run a business. I've always wanted to be a boss, might as well start learning how to act the part.

I shuffled the internet and the books I had gotten all night and when I felt like I had accomplished something, I decided to rest a little, but I slept off.

I was woken up by a phone call very early in the morning. With my eyes still drowsy, I picked up and spoke with a sleepy voice.

"Hello"?

"I'm here".

I sat properly as soon as I heard that arrogant and condescending voice.

"You just had to wake me up so early".

I replied nonchalantly. I wanted her to know that she didn't faze me one bit.

"If I were you, I'd be on my way already".

"Haa!! Hahaha".

I couldn't help but laugh at how boastful she could be. I mean, I couldn't blame her since she was born into wealth. She might feel everyone was supposed to be at her beck and call but it would never be me.

Even if I was dead poor and had nothing in my name, I'd never be one to worship her.

"And... why should I"?

I asked

"What"?

She asked back as though she wasn't expecting that response.

"Why should I be on my way just because you say so"?

I asked and I heard her scoff.

"You don't know who I am, do you"?

I already knew what her answer would be but I said nothing.

"I am the prime minister's daughter, and a much better and successful woman than you'd be".

She said but I rolled my eyes. I knew she was better than I was financially but that was it. She couldn't beat me in any other aspects and even if I was to be as shallow as her, I'd say she wasn't even as pretty as me.

When I was sure she was done talking, I said.

"Tell me something I don't already know".
