A dirty blonde girl with fiery emerald eyes stood in front of me with a clipboard in hand. It may as well have been a sword, the damn thing was so sturdy that Lisa had practically folded it in half and it hadn't snapped.
My hands shook a bit, "Lisa-"
"Don't you dare fucking 'Lisa' me! I said 'STAY HOME' not kill yourself at school!" She yelled hitting me on the head with her clipboard.
"OW! Hey! This isn't helping! Aren't you supposed to be a doctor!?" I shouted in pain, scrambling off the table, a headache formed almost immediately.
"I'm a Legionnaire first!" She yelled, throwing the clipboard at me.
I ducked and the clipboard got stuck in the wall, I went to stand up and my leg entirely gave out. Lisa walked around the table and sighed looking at me. She fixed her clothes and stood me up, sitting me back on the table. Lisa practically ripped the clipboard from the wall and turned to me, her stance was stiffer than her clothes but she seemed to be…was that calm? Or murderous intent?
"I told you that you weren't ready for school, especially your first period. Nonetheless I can respect what you did and why you did it, but had it not been for me being in the school already The Fates would've cut your string." Lisa said plainly, as if Thanatos hadn't been lurking over my shoulder.
"No no, please, start with the bad news first," I said, trying to bring a smile to her face.
Lisa flashed a fake smile and flipped a page on her clipboard. "You damaged your right knee, broke three ribs, tore muscles and veins in your left leg, and you hit vital organs with your dagger trick. You SHOULD be dead, had it not been for me with my ambrosia kit there for Ares's 'Special' obstacle course, you would have died Sara Pearl. The damage done to you was far to severe for regular combat ambrosia, and with my dad busy I need you on bed rest. But this time, I got Neptune involved." Lisa's smile seemed genuine now.
Oh yay my dad, who told me to follow doctor's orders, now knew I did the opposite. There are few people who have seen my dad mad among them were Zeno Neptune, who my dad killed. Odysseus, who he almost drowned for blinding my Half-brother Polyphemus (Though the one-eyed brute deserved it). And Athens, to which my dad gave Spartans the edge they needed to siege the city of Athena. My dad was as calm as an undisturbed lake at points, but could quickly erupt into a tsunami that drowned even innocents. And now he was gonna be watching me like a shark stalking prey, I shuddered at the thought. Sharks scared the hell out of me, I rather be put in Asphodel then deal with one.
"Neptune will oversee your recovery, you will not leave San Francisco. Just to make sure, Andromeda will watch over you as well," Lisa's smiled turned devilish, there's the centurion I knew.
"Roman through and through, no wonder Sheldon loved you," I remarked. Her eyes would've caught fire had she been a god, her clipboard broke into two. Oh fuck, I'm dead.
"That man didn't love me more than a piece of metal! I was his best Centurion! Almost his
Praefectus Castrorum! But no, my value was put below a stupid mythical sword!"
"Wasn't it actually made by Hephaestus?…" I asked.
I could practically hear Lisa's blood pressure rising as she stomped out. I could hear yelling in the other room, I was tuning most of it out but the voices raised more and more until finally heard Lisa's voice become practically ear-piercing.
"Get her out of my clinic!" She yelled, at who, I didn't know.
Andromeda started walking into the room. "Alright alright, calm down, I'll get her," she turned to me. "Why did you piss off The Legion Doc? You know she has killed people, right?" She asked helping me off the table.
"Maybe a trip across The Styx will ease the pain," I joked.
"Oh please, I'd dive in after you if you did that," Andromeda looked at me.
"Aww, you're too sweet," i smiled a bit.
Andromeda helped carry me out of the clinic, past Lisa who was still steaming in her office. Her face had gone from sickly grey to fire engine red, if it wasn't for the danger she posed I would've laughed.
Andromeda carried me outside to see Poseidon standing there, arms crossed and his eyes glowing that bright ocean blue. His presence filled me with dread, like the feeling of an oncoming storm. I could smell the sea water already and feel the energy Odysseus had described in Lord Hades' class. My dad wasn't just mad, he was filled with murderous intent. This energy wasn't that of Poseidon, but Neptune. The look of his clothes confirmed that, instead of a fishing vest and hat, he wore a legion uniform with stone grey Atlantean armor that glowed a bright blue at the openings. His beard was longer too, and it was pure smoky grey instead of brown with patches of grey he usually sported.
"One rule. I gave you ONE RULE BEFORE YOU CAME BACK!" He roared, his voice sounded like ships crashing into shore.
"I know, sir," I bowed a bit and felt pain shoot up my body.
Andromeda stood me up straight and I looked up at Poseidon and he seemed to calm down a bit. At least enough for the armor to vanish, his eyes cut deep into my soul though. Deeper than any blade could ever reach, I could almost feel The Fates pull at my twine.
"Go home, STAY home, get some damn rest," Poseidon continued to stare into my soul.
"Yes, sir," I responded, fighting back everything I wanted to scream at him.
"Ms.Rose, watch her. If she even gets a damn finger out the door you have my full permission to use whatever magic is at your disposal to keep her in San Francisco. Am I understood, ladies?" Poseidon's eyes finally softened but he still looked ready to kill.
"Of course, Lord Poseidon," Andromeda did a half bow, still holding me up.
I just stayed silent and nodded, I hated being stuck at home. I craved adventure, but this would keep me in bed for gods knew how long. I couldn't stay still, I couldn't stay in that house. Andromeda started walking with me back to the school so we could wait for our ride, maybe the night sky would cheer me up.
