Hiro giggled, his cheeks tinged with pink, happiness blooming in his chest. But then a thought crept into his mind—one that made him frown a little.
“Um, Raiden… what happened to your mum?” he asked cautiously. “I remember a woman came to our house once. After you were accused of…um, you know… that stuff. She said she was your mum. She begged and cried for my brother to drop the charges against you. Was that… was that your real mum? Or…”
Raiden chuckled. His evil stepmother was quite unbelievable. He glanced at the glowing time again, noticing that he was going to be late. There was someone very important he had to see.
“I’ll tell you all about my mum later tonight, okay?” he said, brushing Hiro’s sandy brown locks gently out of his face and kissing his cheek. “I’m already late for my meeting.”
Hiro nodded slowly, trusting him. “Okay. Tonight.”
