CHAPTER 10.GO BACK TO THE ROOM

Cate's heart tightened as she watched the blood oozing from Jael sweeny's hand as the bandage was removed. "Go to the hospital!" Her beautiful eyebrows furrowed tightly.

Jael sweeny, however, remained indifferent, as if the bleeding person was not himself. "No need to call a doctor, just re-wrap it for me."

"Me?" Cate pointed at herself in shock, her small face wrinkled into a ball as she shook her head repeatedly. "No, no, what if I don't do it properly and your wound gets infected even more?"

Helpless, Jael Sweeny had to call the family doctor.

The Jael family had a dedicated family doctor who was on call, so it wasn't long before the doctor arrived with his box.

Looking at the wound on Jael sweeny's hand, Jeffrey Stephene couldn't help but frown. She raised her eyes and spoke disapprovingly, "The wound was already healing and about to scar. What did you do to make it split open?"

Jeffrey Stephene was a doctor who had served the Jael family's patriarch and was now Jael sweeny's elder, so she didn't speak as meekly as others.

"Dr. Stephene, just wrap it up for me. Don't ask about anything else,"Jael Sweeny rubbed his forehead, sounding somewhat helpless.

His behavior piqued Jeffrey Stephene's curiosity. She raised her head and looked thoughtfully at Cate, her gaze finally settling on the red mark on Cate's neck, which was particularly prominent against her fair skin.

Cate felt uncomfortable under Jeffrey Stephene's gaze. She raised her hand to her mouth and pretended to cough a few times before sliding her hand down to cover her neck, looking at Jeffrey Stephene with feigned calmness. "Dr. Jeffrey, his hand injury shouldn't be a big problem, right?"

As Jeffrey Stephene deftly treated the wound, she spoke slowly, "This knife wound is not light, and it's quite serious that it split open again this time, which will affect the recovery of the wound to some extent."

Upon hearing this, Cate immediately furrowed her brows, looking like she wanted to say something but hesitated.

Jeffrey Stephene looked up at her again, smiled slightly, and continued, "But it's not that serious. With proper rest and recuperation, it will be fine in a while. However, there is one thing."

She suddenly changed the subject and stopped talking. Cate and Jael both looked up at her, waiting for her next words.

"Both of you should be careful in your daily lives. Although sex may not directly affect the injury on your hand, it is still not advisable to be too intense. If the wound opens up again like it did today, it won't be that simple!"

Jael Sweeny listened to her words and laughed lightly, paying no attention to them. He looked up and glanced at Cate.

Cate remained silent and looked away, a faint blush appearing on her fair and tender cheeks.

After bandaging the wound, Jeffrey Stephene left some anti-inflammatory medicine and left.

In the living room, Cate thought about what Jeffrey Stephene had just said and felt a little guilty. She didn't want to face Sweeny, so she picked up a cup and pretended to go pour water, but she actually wanted to sneak away.

However, before she could take two steps, her wrist was lightly held by Jael Sweeny.

"Where are you going?" Jael sweeny's cold voice sounded behind her.

"Back to the room!"

Cate said as she tried to break free, but she heard a gasp from behind her as soon as she exerted force.

"Hiss!"

Cate's heart trembled, thinking that there was something wrong with the wound on Jael sweeny's hand. She quickly turned around in a panic, only to find that he was fine and holding his injured hand against his chest, with no problems at all.

Realizing that she had been fooled, Cate was annoyed and shouted his name in a low voice, "Jael sweeny!"

Seeing that she seemed to be in a good mood despite being embarrassed, Jael Sweeny even smiled for the first time.

Cate raised her hand to hit him, but Jael Sweeny wouldn't let her succeed and leaned his body slightly to avoid her.

The scene of the two playing around was warm and beautiful, as if they had returned to the time when they first fell in love. Cate suddenly felt a sense of nostalgia.

"What's wrong?" Jael Sweeny asked when he noticed her distraction.

"Nothing," Cate replied, her expression no longer the same as before. She put away her thoughts and looked at him. "Are you still going to the company today?"

Jael sweeny's heart grew cold at Cate's calm tone. He didn't know what was wrong with her. Since she reappeared, she had been acting strange, although it was subtle, he still noticed it.

She didn't say anything, and although he felt annoyed, he didn't want to probe.

"I still have some things to do at the company, so I'll leave first," Jael Sweeny said in a cold voice, like a machine without any emotion. He picked up his jacket from the sofa and left without looking back.

After Jael left, Cate sat on the sofa, feeling drained.

Her hands hung by her side, her fingertips slightly cold, and the chill crept up her fingers, making her heart feel cold too.

The events of the morning played back in her mind like a movie, although the drama was so real.

She had left for five years, but some things seemed to have not changed. Jael's mother was still so domineering and superior, and Robin still tried her best to drive her away. But some things seemed to have changed.

Jael Sweeny kept her by his side, and sometimes he made her feel like they had never been apart. But time passed like water poured out, and it could never be regained.

Cate took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and when she opened them again, there was only calmness in her eyes.

She went back to her bedroom and changed her clothes before sitting down at the dressing table. The woman in the mirror had delicate features and a charming demeanor that was both alluring and captivating. Her skin was as smooth as silk, flawless and radiant. Cate gently touched her face and let out a bitter laugh. Her appearance had not changed, but she knew that her eyes were no longer as innocent as they once were.

After applying a light makeup, Cate grabbed her bag and left. She had returned to Canada not only to retrieve what she wanted from Jael, but also to investigate the hospitals in the country and see if she could contact a specialist in leukemia treatment. Cate had done her research and found out that there was a professor at the Saola Hospital who was extremely experienced in treating leukemia. She planned to meet him today.

When she arrived at the hospital, Cate went to Professor Hillary 's office, but was told by another doctor in the same office that Professor Hillary was on a business trip for the week. Disappointed, she didn't know where to go next. As she walked down the hallway, she looked out the window and saw the French plane trees with their lush foliage. The wind blew and a few leaves fell to the ground. Cate looked up at the sky and let out a long sigh. Greg's condition couldn't wait any longer, she had to speed up...

Leaving the hospital, Cate took taxi to the supermarket and bought a lot of groceries. When she paid, she had to use three bags to carry everything. As she was carrying the bags back to her apartment, she was out of breath and exhausted. When she opened the door, she saw Jael sitting quietly on the sofa.

"Why are you back?" she raised her eyebrows in surprise.

"I didn't have much to do at the company today," he replied in a low, sexy voice.
