I. AM. HIM

[Please Select A Race]

The options were fairly standard with some deviancies, you had the regular fantasy races of Human, Elf, Dwarf, Goliath(Half Giant), Dragonborn, etc. As he expected each race had racial benefits but Marcus just went with Humans who were an all-around race.

While continuing to the next step, configuring his in-game avatar, Marcus noticed a resemblance to character designs reminiscent of an old Cyberpunk game, allowing for advanced customization. Drawing from his visor setup, he tailored the appearance to mirror his scanned body and features, soon accepting the refined visual with confidence after adding some more muscle to his arms and abbs.

[Please Select A Class]

Once again the classes were standard RPG classes so Marcus opted for a simple swordsman to start with.

[Please Spin For Your Companion Unit]

This was what Marcus was excited to get to. The companion unit gacha. This was a special feature known within the community as the Historic Class Gacha. To explain in an info dump manner, this gacha selects a figure in history, be it fictional or not, good or bad, and recreates them as a companion to assist you in the game.

Now, The universal rarities for this game are Common(White), Uncommon(Green), Rare(Blue), Epic(Purple), Legendary(Golden), and Divine(Rainbow). This means these rarities determine the value and utility of everything in the game, including the gacha units.

So far only 3 Divine units have been obtained through the spins but their identities are hidden from the announcement that came with it. Similarly while not quite, a couple dozen Legendary units were obtained and showcased for bragging by their summoners. A very notorious unit being Jack The Ripper.

Though some are stronger than others hence the gacha aspect, most players are happy with who they've gotten, as the historic figure they get can sometimes influence their player class to follow theirs if they agree. Most player units are strong in their own right while some scream about rigged rates most are fine with the unit they end up with.

Marcus grinned as he eyed the slot machine-style gacha that had appeared before him. His hand currently rested on the knob of a lever that stuck out of the right side. On the machine, three sections were spinning. They were labeled using golden plaques that read name, rank, and class.

Not sure what would happen Marcus slowly pulled the lever as a generic casino machine song played while the results slowly began to appear. As the first section of the name began to slow, the sky around him became dark as black clouds rolled in around him.

Far away…

Sitting on a majestic throne within the infinite expanse of the universe, a tan-skinned man with black armor adorned with red accents sat with his head resting on his knuckle. His hair was black and styled into short dreadlocks with the sides faded perfectly.

On his thigh sat a woman with unremarkable beauty, her similarly tanned skin complemented him to perfection as she used his shoulder as a pillow. Her black dress sparkled with diamond-like reflections, yet if one were close enough to see it they'd first be dwarfed by the celestial-sized figures of the couple that seemed to encompass all of the known reality, while secondly realizing that the diamond-like sparkles knitted into the woman's dress were new and old swirling galaxies being born and destroyed simultaneously.

As the two cosmic beings slumbered the male softy jolted as his eyes opened slightly causing the space around them to vibrate softly as if trembling in freight of his actions, his piercing red irises staring at the dress his beloved wore.

"Someone dares recreate a wisp of me? What balls they have…" he said softly as the woman in his lap shifted her body slightly before kissing his cheek. The action in itself caused his eyes to close again as the surroundings stabilized. "I'll let that fragment decide the fate of whoever dares to recreate me wantonly."

Back within Legacy…

Seeing the black clouds passing lightning to each other as thunderclaps followed in a chorus-like manner, Marcus wondered what the cause of this was. As he did the first column of the slot machine slowed down to a stop on a blacked-out option.

"Is this bugged? The option is blacked out"

After a few seconds of silence, a response was heard as Rudy gathered its response, sitting up in response to Marcus's words. His body visibly shook as lines of code passed by his eyes while looking at the blacked-out slot machine selection.

[T-This is not a bug. We actually created HIM. But we couldn't have! He… w-we aren't stupid enough to want everything destroyed!] Rudy spoke lowly while quickly scanning through the information about the gacha selection.

"Who is this HIM person?" Marcus asked with a progressively annoyed tone. He also wasn't picking up on the fear within Rudy's low speaking as he wasn't close enough to listen properly.

As if to answer the question for the little cat AI who was trembling in his little bubble. The second column stopped on a blacked-out rank with the third also stopping on a blacked-out class.

[This shouldn't be possible!] Rudy exclaimed, his fur becoming more noticeably pale at the results he found after his search.

"What are you talking about Rudy???" Marcus asked with worry now evident in his tone. He knew the highest rarity was Divine and that it had a rainbow color but this was black. He had no clue what rarity black was but by how Rudy was acting it was clear that it wasn't a planned result.

This could mean so many things for Marcus that he was unable to decide if this was a good thing or not, and the light show in the sky he's being treated to isn't a good sign in his opinion.

At that time the sound of glass cracking pulled Marcus's attention to the side of the machine causing him to step back. What dumbfounded him was a literal crack in space widening at an alarming rate before suddenly shattering as exploded outwardly, the fragments flying at an undistinguishable rate with one flying by Marcus's cheek, leaving a small multicolored cut along it.

Staring at the now literal crack in space, a tunnel-like plane of revolving rainbow lights, a black and red colored throne slowly floated out before stopping beside the slot machine as the crack in space hurriedly began to repair itself.

[Initiating Data Callback] Rudy said with a robotic-like tone as the space around it began to fill up with holographic windows of code flying down it at an alarming rate.

"Rudy? What are you d-" Marcus began to ask while turning to Rudy before he was interrupted.

"That won't be necessary," said a calm and confident voice unrecognized by Marcus as the pages that Rudy had opened for the callback shattered into motes of light.

Turning to the voice Marcus saw a man sitting on the throne with a lax expression as he rested his head on his fist. His complexion was a perfect tan while his face was sculpted perfectly to the point girls would probably faint after seeing it while guys would want to punch it in envy.

Some might even describe it as otherworldly.

He wore a heavy set of knight armor that was solid black in color with red runic patterns weaved throughout. No crown was worn upon his head but his regal and assertive demeanor showcased utter confidence in his power and authority. His piercing red eyes were beautiful yet deadly as anyone who locked eyes with them felt as if stepping onto the battlefield of an unbeatable foe.

With the man's red irises focusing on Marcus as his expression became marginally more serious, the surrounding space began to tremble under his irritation. His short black hair swayed slowly in the windless environment of the player creation zone.

At the same time, the entire world was trembling as dark clouds covered every inch of the sky. Players were calling for Rudy to explain the phenomena but were blocked from communicating with it due to system errors that popped up on response..

Unknown about the issue plaguing the entire game world, the man met Marcus's gaze causing the young man to break out in a cold sweat.

"Now, young man, mind explaining why you have brought me here?" the unknown man asked, making Marcus hunch down as he almost knelt at the sudden pressure the man excluded that felt as if hundreds of pounds of weights fell onto his back. Beside him Rudy also fell to the ground, the bubble that encompassed the blue feline popping as a pressure magnified fiercely in response to Marcus's defiance to kneel.

"Who are you?!" Marcus roared angrily as he felt the random man was trying to humiliate him. He didn't know how he was doing it but he felt like this was the random man's doing as he did his best to remain on his own two feet.

"He's fairing surprisingly well, what an interesting soul he has…." Thought the man, as at the same time he excluded the same pressure upon the entire world, causing countless players to kneel while a select few struggled similarly to Marcus. "Interesting…"

Focusing his attention on the young man who struggled to remain on his feet, the man smiled as the pressure suddenly disappeared, leaving Marcus sweating as he angrily locked eyes with him.

"You asked who I am? I am called many things. The Gatekeeper of Babylon, The Ruler of Uruk, The Eternal King, The Transcendent Monarch, The King of Heroes, yet my true name is known by one and all," He stated as the cogs began to roll in Marcus's head, the titles culminating to a singular existence he knew from ancient Mesopotamia history.

At the same time, the slot machine selections began to etch golden text into the blacked-out boxes, confirming the thoughts he had.

Name: Gilgamesh, Rank: Eternal, Class: Transcendent Monarch

"Yes, you know of me now it seems," Gilgamesh said with a soft chuckle as he gazed upon the shocked face of Marcus and the fear-stricken eyes of Rudy. "I. AM. HIM!"
