Chapter 32: My Soul to Keep

Griffin's POV

Great, I thought, that's all I needed. Lucinda's boyfriend, assistant, whatever he was, trying to prevent us from leaving. Maybe if I explained the situation, I wouldn't have to kill him. It wasn't arrogance, it was reality. Leo obviously had absolutely no idea how to wield a sword. He looked like he was about to drop it, actually. I didn't want him to hurt himself, which would be the most likely outcome if I didn't act fast.

"Leo, relax, I'm just getting Mia some medical attention," I told him, "Then I'm coming right back, and we're going to do the same for Lucinda." He looked confused, and I guess I didn't blame him. Leo did, however, put his sword back in its sheath, to everyone's relief.

"But, she's the prisoner," he replied, looking from Mia to me in consternation, "If I allow you to leave with her, why would you come back?"
