Chapter 4: The Legendary Frog

I stared at my right chest through the comfort room's mirror where the symbol of four attributes surrounding into a star resides.

This symbol right here is my second ability, Elementalist.

My mother's family focuses on Enphysis, while my father being an Elementalist.

Ah.. my poor father.

I should have known when he came back home at that time with those blank stare.

Right after being chained up, I found out from the members of «Serentra» that my father... was actually being controlled right from the beginning.

Later then, while being locked up and chained at the tower... I heard about how my innocent father was killed.

'However I don't know who did it. Was it Felisha? Is she.. a member of Serentra as well?'

I don't know, all I know is that everything started when my mother left—on which.. she actually didn't. Not even my knowledge from the first life could know what happened to her.

I just knew that the Serentra killed her.

I gritted my teeth the moment I realized how our life has been playing the role of marionette! Even from the beginning... we were being played!

"Those damn filthy bastards.."

I need to cross over the world where everything began. So that I could get revenge for us... for my family they toyed with!

"Huh?" Slowly, I pushed the door that's been opened before I came back to my room.

'I closed the door and Vivian isn't here. Is it a thief?'

I opened the lights of my room but there wasn't anything that's missing or even a single thing that's unusual.

"How did it open?"

"I'm right here, child."

I looked down at the small voice. A protruding eyes, no tail, and strong, webbed hind feet and those purple smooth, moist skins.

'What the— a frog?!'

"Wait a minute, before you hit me!" The frog raised its front feet where a scepter appears.

I put down the lamp I was supposed to hit it with when the frog tapped the scepter on the ground and a smoke covers it.

"Cough! Cough! W-What?.."

"Ah.. there. Well, child, greetings." When the smoke subsided, an old man, that looks like in his 60's bowed a little. His silver hair following the direction of his head and the purple eyes that were like jewels.

'That's a good looking old man right there.'

But wait... A shape shifting frog? And that purple eyes..

It's Rodine Wolstice! That legendary old man who owned the largest institute for ability users in all Visceral Empire!

I heard about him a lot. The Serentra hated him so much because Wolstice— the institute that nurtures people with ability, trained a lot of big names that would fight in the war.

I hid the excitement in my eyes and looked at him with only awe.

"W-Who are you..?" I pretended not to know him.

"I'm Rodine Wolstice, child. I've been finding you ever since your birthday passed."

I was startled at his words. He had been finding me ever since two months ago? This never happen in my past life..

'Wait. No. It's probably because I would've come to Iarkial by this time.'

Then.. are you telling me that.. I would've been reunited with my brother if I just waited?

I shook my head and focused my attention at the old man in front of me, "H-How did you come here?"

He smiled proudly, "I followed the trace of your left over mana."

What the? He just followed whatever's left on my mana when I awakened during my birthday? That should've dissipated a long time ago!

An ability-user's energy and aura if mix, can result in one's mana that acts like fuel to use your ability. The energy is a kind of force that comes from within and used regularly.

On the other hand, auras can be applied to something you specialized of, like swordmanship. All of these are from one's body.

Well.. I was able to wield aura to my sword before since I learned it out of boredom. Though.. it's painful that I have to restart from the beginning because I regressed.

No wait! Let's not be distracted! This old man really followed my scattered and left over mana like a damn pro!

'Now I understand why the people in the tower hate and admire him.'

"You don't look surprise."

"All that chaos of awakening my ability and I had to be surprise of an old man shape shifting?"

The old man chuckles and look straight into my eyes, "This would be easy, then." He lightly tapped the scepter on his hand at the ground again.

A light whirled and appeared in front of us. It was dazzling to see and yet doesn't feel ominous.

Is this... a portal?

Looks like it. It's the same thing with Iarkial back then. "Do you want to come with me?"

He extended his hand to me. I pursed my lips before taking his hands without any hesitation.

Finally...

"Ah wait!" The old man looked at me with confusion when I hurriedly tear a page from my notebook nearby and write something on it.

I stuck the paper under the lamp so that Vivian could see it easier. She's not expressive but I knew now she cares for me. I don't want her to worry about me.

Taking the notebook where I wrote down every details of my past life, we both entered the portal and a dizzying sensation envelope my body.

Damn it. This is the same feeling when I first came in a portal on my first life!

"Are you okay, child?"

"Uh-hmm.. argh." I held my head for a minute before finally opening my eyes from the momentarily headache.

What appeared before me is a sight. With the lights coming from the lamp post ran by the magic stones and lights from inside, I could see a huge manor, comparably to a palace. The maids and servants lined up at the entrance.

Lushes of green grass and the trees were in a straight line. It looks so peaceful— very different to the black and dark ambiance of the tower.

This is probably the Wolstice's manor. A famous place that everyone knew of since it's a state that's been given to the old man by the former Emperor for his achievements.

"My Lord, is that...?" A middle aged man in a tailcoat approached the old man beside me. He was carrying a shawl in his hand.

"Ah, Greetings. I'm Zaria Triel Trovis." I bowed before him and hardened the moment I realized.

Stupid! I came outside, how could I know their etiquette?!

Who could blame me when that annoying etiquette is engraved on my body?!

"Amazing.. as expected, the House of Trovis really are excellent. You knew the etiquette well."

Thank god the man just smiled! He probably thought our parents taught us these things when we were kids.

"House of Trovis?" Pretending not to know anything, I just asked.

"Ah! Lord, you didn't tell her anything?!"

The old man scratched the back of his head and laughed, "Well, she's easy to talk to so no further explaining happen! Haha!"

"My Lord.. that's a bit.. Haah. You didn't even dressed her properly." The man in the tail coat gave the shawl to me. I wrapped it around me who were still wearing pajamas.

'Heck. Why did I forget the way this conservative world works?!'

"Vincent, have you contacted the Duke?"

The man in the tail coat, Vincent, nodded. "Yes, my lord. Although for the past two months, it seems something came up to the Duchy."

Something came up? What do you mean? At this time..?

"What happened?" The old man asked, Vincent's face turned grim.

"The outskirts of Trovis Duchy was attacked by several monsters, my lord."
