Chapter 94: What Is Life Without Thrill?

"Freedom..?" Kiryuin smiled, her eyes narrowing into thin slits, "That sounds like you'll be keeping me here forever if I lose..."

She looked at him questioningly, as if saying 'Is that really true?'

Nonetheless, her eyes were full of jest. She didn't actually believe he would do something so outrageous.

But Tatsuya didn't answer and smiled instead. He got up and walked behind Kiryuin to untie her hands.

Kiryuin's smile persisted as she closely followed his movement with her eyes. Soon she felt the binds on her hands loosen.

Her eyes shone with a cold glint but she didn't make any impulsive moves, turning her head to glance at him while also measuring the distance between the door and her.

"How many rounds do we play?" She asked causally.

Do I bet on the possibility of it not being locked?

Kiryuin's mind raced as she went into overdrive.

Every human has instincts. It was a mysterious feeling which guided the mind to make a decision without much rationale.

So, the moment Tatsuya turned around to move back to the bed Kiryuin acted. Her heart was racing as she moved her leg and kicked in between his legs.

When instincts take over action precedes thoughts.

Even though Kiryuin was calculating different solutions to escape her current predicament, the moment Tatsuya showed his defenceless back she didn't hesitate for a second before striking the most vulnerable part of a man's body.

Never ignore your intuition when it comes to safety. If you have a gut feeling that is specific to your safety in a location, situation, or even a disagreement, always listen to it.

It may be that subtle voice that prevents you from danger!

And that was exactly what Kiryuin did.

But alas...

Kiryuin wasn't the only one with instincts.

It was a gift given to all humans.

The moment she made a decision to strike him Tatsuya's body moved on its own. Garou's Physique wasn't simply the muscular appearance, it was the experience and battle-hardened physique given to Tatsuya.

The reason it was without the scars that Garou possessed was simply the System cleaning it up.

It was clear that the System was an intelligent being, it would make decisions that would benefit it and its host.

That's why when Tatsuya used the World Essence to upgrade it, it also cleansed his soul and cleared the backlash of repeatedly using [Soul Eater].

The stronger the host, the stronger it was.

Kiryuin's attack failed. Her foot was stuck in empty space as her eyes turned into saucers. She turned her head around and met Tatsuya's amused gaze.

"You're ruthless," Tatsuya commented and Kiryuin felt her heart sink but she immediately turned around and smiled, hiding her panic.

"Aww~ I missed!" Since Tatsuya didn't attack her back things hadn't taken a turn for the worst, "I thought I could pay you back for tying me up. You wouldn't mind it, right?"

Tatsuya's lips twitched.

You were going to smash my cock bitch!

"Oh definitely, thankfully you weren't serious so I was able to dodge. You still up for Rock Paper Scissors?"

It was Kiryuin's lips that twitched this time.

Do I have a choice?

Her instincts were screaming at her to run but instincts weren't always helpful despite being the right decision sometimes.

In fact, if it were the same situation with anyone else besides Tatsuya Kiryuin might've succeeded but unfortunately, it was futile.

To give an example, when a person drowns in the sea their first instinct is to rush up but how could one rush up if they were submerged hundreds of meters deep?

Instincts could only help, it didn't solve problems.

In the end, Kiryuin was submerged in a sea where no matter how much she swam upwards it wouldn't matter.

She could only suffocate!

"Of course!" Kiryuin smiled softly and relaxed her body.

It was of no use, just the speed he showed made it clear to her that she was not his match. They were in completely different leagues.

She wasn't as inexperienced as Horikita.

She didn't even bother with the thought that she could retaliate.

"Good!" Tatsuya smiled joyfully, "Let's start."

He brought his fist on top of his palm and Kiryuin could only follow his movements.

"Rock... Paper... Scissors... Shoot!"

"Rock... Paper... Scissors... Shoot!"

Kiryuin played paper while Tatsuya played rock.

Tatsuya lost the first round.

"Unlucky..." He muttered and cast Kiryuin a look before repositioning his hands, ready to go for the next round.

If he lost again, Kiryuin would win.

Kiryuin tensed up, the whole situation was too messed up. Even if she was acting calm she couldn't simmer her restless heart.

She didn't react whatsoever to winning.

It was just a single round, unless she won the whole game what was the point of expressing joy?

She also got into position.

Tatsuya smiled, he was clear of all her feelings. Things became quite simple once you knew enough information about the opponent.

"Rock... Paper... Scissors... Shoot!"

"Rock... Paper... Scissors... Shoot!"

Tatsuya played paper and Kiryuin...

She played paper as well.

It was a draw.

"And here I thought I would win," Kiryuin said with a small smile.

"You're quite confident."

"Of course, I only need to win once while you need to win twice. Probability states that I have a much higher chance of winning." Kiryuin joked and Tatsuya shook his head.

"Luck can only be predicted not calculated. Let's continue."

Kiryuin didn't respond and simply brought her fist on top of her palm.

Tatsuya did the same.

"Rock... Paper... Scissors... Shoot!"

"Rock... Paper... Scissors... Shoot!"

Kiryuin played rock and Tatsuya played...

Paper!

Tatsuya won!

The score was 1-1 and Kiryuin frowned.

"Oh my, looks like probability isn't favouring you anymore." Tatsuya's voice was completely relaxed as if the outcome of their game didn't matter.

Kiryuin's frown eased, "True but I can still win."

"Hmm," Tatsuya hummed before bringing his hands back into position. Kiryuin remained unmoved for a few seconds before a large smile found its way to her face.

Her eyes were gleaming with excitement.

The suddenness of the situation had taken her by surprise causing her instincts to take over. Tatsuya's aura was overwhelming, she instinctively felt fear.

But now that some time had passed her heart was racing.

It was not out of fear, but thrill!

She could tell, the outcome of this game would entirely dictate her life! It was so ridiculous and baseless but the mere thought of one game of rock paper scissors deciding her fate caused her blood to rush.

So exciting! So thrilling!

Wasn't this what she was searching for? Wasn't this the thrill she was seeking?

Her eyes sparkled and her face flushed red as she followed Tatsuya's movement.

Tatsuya was taken aback. The change was too sudden, he wasn't omniscient. While he knew of Kiryuin's mental struggles even he couldn't predict this.

Looking at her face he could only think of one thing.

A complete lunatic.

With his interest and curiosity raised his lips parted alongside hers.

"Rock... Paper... Scissors... Shoot!"

"Rock... Paper... Scissors... Shoot!"

Tatsuya played scissors and Kiryuin played...

Rock!
