"Hurry up Ayla you don't want to be late for your first day at school,"Monica told her as she helped her get ready.
"School never go, me be not understand what speak," Ayla told her.
"I know, my dear but I have already spoken to the school and they will take you slowly till you can understand. And also you will be having tuition after school so that you can catch up with your peers at school. Now hurry up and join the boys you are going with them," Monica bid her a good bye, and watched as Ayla left to begin a new phase of her life.
"And now we have been turned to nothing more than caretakers and drivers for her royal highness," Mason sniggered as he saw Ayla running towards towards them.
"Can you be nice to her?" Jason asked.
"No, and she is your problem,"Mason uttered and got into the driver sit of the car just as Ayla arrived.
"Me told go school you?," she asked with a smile.
Jason took a while to process her words and came up with she was going to school with them.
"Okay," He smiled at her and opened the back door for her.
They all rode in silence, and when they got to school Jason and Mason did a sort of bro hug before Mason left with the promise to see each other at lunch.
Jason turned to Ayla only for her to attempt to do the bro hug thingy.
"What are you doing?" Jason asked as he held her by the shoulders to stop her.
" Him you, touch this that me do same leave," Ayla explained still trying to do the bro hug.
"No Ayla, only boys do that," he said with a laugh, "Now c'mon I will take you to the administration office so that you can get your schedule," Jason added and started to walk away.
Ayla was left there staring at his back wondering what on earth he just said.
"What boys? What schedule administration?" She wondered out loud as she scratched her head.
"Ayla, what are you waiting for?"Jason called to her when he noticed that she had not moved an inch.
Ayla noting the hand movement that those people back home used to call to a person, she ran to where Jason was.
"C'mon we will be late," Jason said and proceeded to continue.
This time Ayla was clever enough to follow him. He lead them to the administration office where he got her schedule and locker code.
They first went to Alya's locker since it was nearest.
"This is your locker, you keep your things her. And Mason's locker is right next to yours, mine is a bit further down the hall," he explained as he opened her locker and put her things in.
Ayla just stared at him, she was having a hard time understanding him unlike how easy it was to understand Monica and Anthony. So she just opted to let him do what needs to be done.
"You have English as your first class right after Homeroom which we missed but its good as I have the same, then later you have biology, which Mason will be in so that will be okay too,"Jason says to her as he grabs her English book and a notebook for her.
After taking what he needs for class they head to class merely minutes after the bell rang.
"You must be the new student," the teacher comments on their arrival.
"No me Ayla," She responds making the entire class burst into a laugh.
"And she is a funny one, grab a sit," the teacher says sarcastically as he points at the class.
Jason grabs a Ayla's hand and drags her to the back where there were two sits available.
"For those who don't know me am, Mr Newdman. Open your books to page 34, we are going to be learning on poetry by Shakespeare,"Mr Newdman spoke earning a groan from everyone in the classroom,"Well don't be so excited about it," he added sarcastically.
And with that the lesson began, leaving Ayla confused.
Mid- way into the lesson Ayla tried to ask Jason what was happening only to be shushed.
"Don't take it heart sweetheart, he his in study mode now," a girl sited by her left next to the wall spoke.
The girl was dressed in black, black shirt with a skull symbol at the front, a black trouser, black make up add piercing on her ear and nose. She looked beautiful, Ayla noticed.
"What say me no get?" Ayla couldn't help but ask.
"Your english is as awful as the people in this school, I like it. Am Diana and don't worry just give it a week and you will be able to understand everything just fine," the girl whispered to her before turning to face the teacher.
This only got Ayla more confused and not to mention frustrated as she could not understand a word that was been said.
Just Ayla was about to snap the bell rang, marking the end of the lesson and everyone started piling out as if they couldn't wait a minute more in that class.
"C'mon, i will take you your biology class then meet you up by your locker for your third period," Jason said to her and started walking.
So far she was able to figure out that C'mon mean to follow him, thus making her to stand up and ran to catch up with him.
Jason tried a couple of times to strike a conversation with her but it usually ended with her looking at him as if he had grown an extra head. Ultimately Jason gave up trying.
"Here is your class, and there is Mason I will see you right after," Jason told her before heading away.
After a few minutes of wondering what he said, she figured it would be best to just go over to Mason.
"What are you doing here?" Mason couldn't help but groan at the sight her as she took the sit next to him.
"Jason me tell come you," Ayla smiled at him.
Groaning at that Mason basically ignored her and went back to whatever he was doing on his screen.
"Excuse me girl, you are on my sit," A high pitched voice startled Ayla interrupting her intense study of the heart on the biology textbook.
Ayla faced her giving her a puzzled look.
"I said you are on my sit, so get up, everyone knows that the sit next to my boyfriend is always reserved for me," she said.
"Stacey, just let her be," Mason told his girlfriend.
"Me sit nobody here, Mason stay with," Ayla tried to explain that the sit was empty and she was asked to stay with Mason.
At first Stacey did not seem to comprehend what she said but when it sank in she couldn't help but laugh and her squad laughed together with her.
"Look at you, what are you doing here, you don't deserve to be here with your lack of basic English. You don't belong here sweetheart, You should be locked up at the zoo with the other animals of your kind," Stacey proclaimed with a sickening sweet smile playing on her lips, making the entire class burst out laughing.
Though Ayla not having understood a word said, she did understand something, they were laughing at her, and insulting her just like they used to do it back home. She never liked that feeling and neither did she now, so she only did what she did best and that was to ran.
