Chapter 3

I wanted to walk into that bar with every fiber of my being and just get wasted until my Beta comes to find me. He was after all responsible for running things in my absence. Unfortunately for him, he is also my friend so he will not rest until he finds me. Knowing this I could get blackout drunk and trust him to handle everything else but the problem was that I didn't have any money on me. I did have jewelry and it didn't mean anything to me so I don't mind selling it, well the chain and watch. I would keep the ring. But it's getting late and I don't know where persons will buy jewelry now.

I ambled for a bit and eventually stopped someone and asked them where I could exchange jewelry for money. I could not tell what sex they were as they looked to be a mix of both (They were androgynous but he doesn't know the term as yet). I also could not tell their gender since I cannot smell any pheromones.

What is it with everyone covering up their pheromones. I would like to know who is an Alpha, who is a Beta and who is an Omega not be playing mind games. As hard as I tried, I couldn't pick up on anything so I forced myself to listen to what they were saying. They knew a place that does such transactions thankfully, and they called it a pawn shop. Who the hell named these stuff? Why is everything so weirdly different?

The name was the least of my concern at the moment though so I went towards the pawn shop that was surprisingly close by.

"Evening sir, what may I assist you with today?"

Finally someone that seemed to recognize me. This was the only person that greeted me normally the entire afternoon.

"Yes evening, I'm here to exchange gold for money? I was told you did that?"

"We are a pawn shop, yes, but the amount we exchange for is based on the quality and reliability of the jewelry. May I see the piece you wish to exchange?"

"Are you insulting me? I can assure you that my jewelry is trustworthy. I do not wear low quality jewelry. This piece is very old and was passed down through the pack for generations.

This ring is even much older and I hold it in high regard."

At the mention of the word pack, he looked at me strangely but didn't say anything else. It was very difficult to read him or gauge his response based on his reaction. I usually have no problem reading people so why is it so difficult.

"So which piece will you be trading today?"

I held out the chain to him and saw his eyes widen a fraction. It fell again and he said he will have to test it to make sure it is real since it looks very expensive.

I let him go to the back of the shop with it knowing that I could easily overpower him if he tried anything underhanded. He came back a few minutes later with an added glow and a seemingly permanent smile nestled upon his face.
