The Devil's Message II

"Riv?"

They both asked, surprised.

"Sam! Uncle Bru!" The platinum head ran towards the two and jumped on both of them, trying to fit them in his arms.

"Take it easy, young man" Bruno softly chastised as he smiled broadly at the young boy's enthusiasm, engulfing him in his stronger arms.

"Give me my brother" Sam whined as he snatched River from his mate's arms, engulfing his brother in a tight embrace.

"I've missed you little one," Sam said, smiling broadly.

Sam released his brother and looked him in the eyes.

"I've missed you, Sam" River said solemnly.

"Omma" Sam soft said, taking his eyes off his cousin to look at his auntie who was sitting at the head of the table as if she owned the place.

"You finally noticed me" Monica sarcastically said, feigning hurt.

She stood up and walked towards her Nephew and his mate, engulfing them in a warm hug. She released them, smiling warmly at them after a few seconds of basking in their warmth.

"Let's have breakfast, I'm hungry" River whined, stomping his feet which made everyone laugh at the young lad's cuteness.

-

"So how did you guys manage to get past the guards?" Sam asked with his mouth full of food.

They were having breakfast in the dining room, Sam was sitting next to River at the end of the table while Monica and Bruno sat side by side- opposite them; with Bruno directly facing Sam.

"Stop talking with a full mouth" Bruno chastised his mate.

"At least he has someone to keep him in check" Monica looked her Nephew up and down disapprovingly making River giggle softly, his Hazel eyes sparkling in the process.

"Lucifer left Riv a message" Monica chimed in.

"Huh?" The mate duo asked, dumbfounded.

"Yup, Uncle Luci sent a birdie to me," River said with a chuckle.

"Huh?" The duo were still not understanding a thing.

"Well, he managed to send a message to me; I was gardening in the backyard when a storm started, the weather forecast said otherwise though. A tornado started brewing strongly and after the tornado calmed down, a single white rose petal fell from the sky. If I hadn't been observant, I would have missed it"

"Wow.... So what did the flying petal mean?" Sam asked, intrigued which made him receive a smack across his head by his younger cousin.

"A secret" River said, giggling.

"So how long are you staying?" Bruno asked with a hopeful expression on his face.

River glanced at his mother who cleared her throat before speaking;

"River can stay as long as he wants" She dropped the bomb which made everyone in the room gasp- including River.

"Yeah, he will have his favorite people around him, and let's not forget how Lucifer is particularly fond of him, so I think he'll be in safe hands. I'll just have to sign a contract with the Devil when he gets here" Monica concluded.

"What?!" Sam exclaimed.

"Yes, Lucifer will be his guardian here in hell" Monica dryly said.

Everyone's jaw dropped to the ground.

"His bags will be sent to the castle before the end of the day and I'll prepare the contract with Luci when he gets here"

"Are you okay with this, River?" Sam solemnly asked.

"Of course, it's been my dream! I've always wanted to stay here and you know that!" River enthusiastically exclaimed after getting over the shock of what his mother said.

"Never seen someone so excited about staying in hell" Sam mused which made him receive a cute glare from his cousin.

"We don't know when he's coming, though," Bruno said with a huff.

"Bruno, have you been taking rest? ....You just put to bed" Monica worriedly and hesitantly asked.

"Ah, I'm fine. I'm the Devil's mate" Bruno brushed off with a flustered smile on his face

"It's been really hard without Luc," Sam said as he dragged his palm down his face, it pained him that he could not hold his lover's hands right now.

"Yeah, Yeah no sadly said.

"Don't worry he'll be back soon. He's on his way as I speak" River whispered as if he was telling a top secret.

"You don't know that!" Bruno whined, Sam stared down at his brother with suspicious eyes.

River stood up, making the chair behind him give out a low screeching sound.

"I'll be going to the manor's garden now if you'll excuse me," River said as he bowed politely as his waist-length ponytail bounced along with his gesture.

"This is a castle, Riv" Bruno deadpanned.

"Not a manor" Sam further deadpanned.

"Well, I have to go speak with the flowers since petals love conversing with me these days" River said with a knowing smile playing on his lips which didn't go unnoticed by his mother who raised an eyebrow at him as he left for the castle's garden.

"Omma, your son is rude" Sam deadpanned with a pout, facing Monica.

"Trust me I know, I wonder how his mates keep up with him" Monica sarcastically replied.

"Omma, I'm not rude!" Sam whined which made his mate burst into a fit of laughter.

-

Lucifer, do you think the person you sent the petal message will be able to crack it?" Eosphorus asked, doubt clear in his voice.

Lucifer and Eosphorus are on their journey back to hell's castle. They decided against teleportation because they didn't want to risk the well-being of the newborn in Lucifer's arms. Their wings flapped gracefully through the night sky, the similarity in their wings very prominent under the moonlight.

"Why do you doubt him so much?" Lucifer replied to his brother without sparing him a glance.

"Well, there are multiple reasons. First, he dwells on earth-" He was cut off by Lucifer.

"You dwelled there too" Lucifer finally glanced at his brother, looking at his younger brother like he had grown two heads- not that it would be too surprising if he discovered that his brother had two heads.

"Let me finish, Lucifer," Eosphorus said with a sharp glare directed at his brother.

"Whatever, go on" Lucifer dryly commented.

"Thank you" Eosphorus sarcastically said.

"Well, as I was saying. Secondly, I don't trust anyone who doesn't share a direct bond with you or me. Also, I don't think he'll be able to crack the message because it was beautifully wrapped with Hell's magic and someone who has been on Earth practically all their life could die if they touched it" Eosphorus narrated within a beat.

"I'll answer all your questions when I see my mates, Eosphorus" Lucifer lowly said as he unintentionally started sulking.

Well, who was Eosphorus to complain? He would simply terminate anyone who seemed to be a threat to his family.
