Part I: Before
Chapter one
Silence filled the room, and only the sound from the swirl of the ceiling fan above was echoed throughout the room like a broken Melody.
Ezekiel leveled a glare at the doctor that sat across from him, he asked in a flat and cold voice "What exactly is wrong with Harry?"
Harry was his first son and he had some issues. He was always cold and distant, so unresponsive and always prone to violent outburst. He was nothing like his second brother, Garry.
The doctor squirmed uncomfortably in his seat, adjusting his round glass to sit on the rim of his nose, he cleared his throat before speaking.
"Your son shows symptoms a neurobiological disorder. It isn't uncommon in children of his age, and I doubt it's anything to worry about. His physicality is good, the problem lies in is psychological evaluation"
"So you're saying there's no cure?" Ezekiel asked, his eyes narrowed menacingly. His brows almost disappear into his hairline as he frowned fiercely at the crystal mug on the table.
"No no, don't get me wrong. I mainly stated that his situation isn't something that requires medications and injection. It's something that needs further examination by specialist and your best shot right now is therapy" Doctor Gregory stated as a matter of fact.
He might still be a little___okay maybe more than a little scared of the man in front of him, but that doesn't mean his constant state of fear was going to affect his professionalism.
Doctor Gregory puffed out a breath under his nose, covertly studying the man.
Ezekiel sighed into his hand as a bitter taste rose in his bile. His son has a neurobiological disorder and that was enough to ruin his whole mood. Why hadn't he thought of this before??
Really? He stood up abruptly, and slid out of the chair, his face still marred by a fierce frown.
"That's it?" Doctor Gregory whispered in surprise. He was just going to leave after hearing a life changing news about his son? With nothing more than a frown and a sigh into his hands? Was this man even human?
He wasn't, judging from his out-of-the-world beauty. He was taller, taller than average men and that means he's somewhere ranging from six foot seven or eight.
His eyebrow was perfectly sculpted, framing his thick and long black lashes. If Doctor Gregory wasn't already married to his wife, and if he wasn't scared shitless of him, he'd ask him out the moment he came in.
"Yeah, is something else the matter?" He asked coldly. The response was a tiny nod which he took no note of, as he stormed out of the consulting room.
His secretary, a gangly looking man in his mid thirties, scurried over to meet his boss midstride.
"How did it go?" He asked with enthusiasm. He made sure to keep a distance of exactly three steps between their bodies. His loud voice did the rest
"Bad" Ezekiel answered noncommittally.
James clamped his mouth shut, as he hurriedly increased his pace to meet up with his boss. Having a really long leg apparently, had more advantages than drawing ladies.
James had always marveled about his boss, his precise steps, his immaculate tie that was in perfect symmetry with his button and the pair of shining black Loafer.
"I need six medical consultation booked before the day runs out. I don't trust this man's opinion" Ezekiel said to his secretary.
No pleasantries, no unnecessary words added.
James nodded with wide eyes, inwardly groaning and mentally calculating the draining day ahead of him. It had taken every bit of pressure and connection before he could get a meeting schedule with the best paediatrician in the whole country, and yet his boss made it clear that his labour was nothing but insignificant.
They got to the garage in no time, thanks to the long strides of his boss and they made their way to the sleek black Ferrari that was far at the farthest corner.
Even the car was parked at a perfect symmetry with the yellow lines on the floor. His boss was crazy about things like that.
He slid the car done open, and watched as Ezekiel repeated the routine.
Enters with left foot first, right shoulder, right foot and left shoulder.
"Office" Ezekiel murmured monotonously
James nodded and started the car, loving as the engine revels up and picked up pace smoothly. The light hum of the Air conditioning filled the car, and James fingers itched to play something on the radio. To turn on some music but of course, he wouldn't dare. Else lose his job of three weeks and a salary that keeps him salivating.
The first time he drove his boss in this beauty, he had been uncomfortable by the cold and glaring silence that stretched inside the car and he had acted impulsively and turned the music on.
His boss turned frigid in his seat, his eyes went glassy and red. His fingers twitched on his laps and he took three heavy breath before speaking to him. James could still recall the incident like it was yesterday. A shudder passed through him as he remembered those icy blue and flat eyes trained on him and his exact word
"Do not ever play any loud music in my vicinity or your contract will be terminated and you'll pay for the breach of the contract" he said it with all seriousness of a president.
James bobbed his head and turned off the music, the incident indented on his mind.
Now on their way to the office from the hospital, he wondered if his boss was sick. He snuck a quick glance at his frown and puckered lips, he looked like he was doing some deep thinking.
"A bit more to the center" his voice cold voice slanted a shiver through him.
He nodded and steered the car to the center, wondering why his boss wanted everything to be perfect always.
