Chapter eleven
The decision hung around his head like a demon from hell, hovering and breathing down his neck. He sank on the comfy couch with a grunt.
He knew what to do. He really did, but that doesn't make it any easier.
Watching his son suffer was pure agony to him, it was the worst torture anyone could think to subject him to.
The door slid open and Lu Chen walked in. Looking every bit as ragged and tired as Ezekiel.
His eyes was bloodshot and his shirt was stained with snot and tears.
Without saying a word, he sat down across from Ezekiel. His countenance was brooding, his forehead scrunched in frustration. Ezekiel dreaded this conversation, he felt his gut turn leaden with guilt.
"Zeke..do you know what this means?" He stared right into Ezekiel's eyes. His mouth was flat as he studied him.
"Yeah. This change a lot of things you know?," Ezekiel replied gravelly. He let his head dropped into his palm and let out a gusting sigh.
"Yeah so what are you gonna do now?" Lu Chen asked without heat.
The atmosphere turned gloomy, the bright chandelier did nothing to elevate the plunging darkness that hovered around like a dark cloud.
"The therapist suggested something..," Ezekiel sat straighter and leaned forward.
Lu Chen tired gaze turned sharp, and his breath hitched with anticipation. He was really in love with his godsons and wouldn't want anything to happen to either of them.
He perked up significantly and raised one inquisitive brow at Ezekiel.
"Yeah?," He prompted with a sharp voice.
Ezekiel sighed again, his gut clenched and bile rose in his throat.
"The therapist suggested"Normalcy" and "Stability," he replied flatly. He felt like he just swallowed a bout of acid and watched in horror as it trailed down his stomach.
He clenched and unclenched his fist, willing the guilt away and trying to clear his rising fog of rage.
How could he let this happen?
Lu Chen was lost and confused as he asked again "will you talk? Or should I pry open your mouth?," His voice dripped with impatience.
He got up and strode to the liquor cabinet in the room. He poured two tumbler of whiskey and returned with it. He silently handed it to Ezekiel who collected it with a grateful nod.
"The therapist think we are too cold and uncaring for the little children. Sometimes, our perspective of normal isn't quite the same with the little children's, especially given...his condition," he rushed the words out and winced as he said them. He downed the whiskey in a gulp and nodded as the Amber liquid burned his throat.
Anything was a welcome distraction now.
The rest of the world would pay millions to see the infamous Ezekiel Wang like this. Torn and full of regret and wistfulness.
To see him shedding the outermost layer of icicles that surrounded him, to see him listing his outer cold appearance and watch as his perfect erected ice wall melt.
"Too cold?," Lu Chen almost screeched. While many people would assume the two of them weren't the most outgoing in the world (an exaggeration considering they aren't), Lu Chen is nothing but affectionate and sweet with the twins.
"I swear to God Zeke, if you do not continue with your godforsaken bad news of a solution right now, I'll Chuck precious your watch into the Pacific ocean!" Lu Chen retorted angrily. He stood up, his rage was almost consuming as it towered out of him in waves and torrent.
Meanwhile, Ezekiel situation could perfectly be described as cold anger. His face was a mask of frustration and anger. But instead of unleashing the hot red rage that threatened to spill and engulf every living being on Earth, he reined it in and smiled. A chilling deranged smile that is sure to send into little into a wailing fit.
"He suggested having a complete family and someone he can completely trust. Someone that'll act as an anchor for him. A mother," Ezekiel said lowly.
Lu Chen paused abruptly and turned a widened gaze to Ezekiel.
"A what?!!!"
"A mother," he replied with a bitter chuckle.
Lu Chen sat down and sighed. He tugged his hair and nodded in sympathy.
"I'm so sorry Zeke," Lu Chen offered a tight smile.
Ever since the death of Ezekiel's first wife, he had been drawn and adverse to the issue of getting married again. Normally, he wasn't the most affectionate of human ( an understatement), but losing his childhood sweetheart did something to him. He had withdrawn back into his shell and kept the ice wall stacked up little by little. Until it was too high for anyone to try entering.
"We can find something else you know, we can take them__"
"No!" He shook his head and yelled. His features was schooled back into the blank fixture that was associated with him, his outstretched hand brooked no argument.
"Don't give me that bullshit! Do not give me that face!" Lu chen warned dangerously. He knew this game.
He really wasn't Ezekiel's cousin and friend for fifteen years if this little farce could faze him.
"You know I must do this," Ezekiel said. His voice softer this time.
Lu Chen nodded in understanding. He knew this was going to be hard on them, but the result would definitely be worth it. He had been trying to get Ezekiel to lower his walls a bit, but without success.
Maybe it wasn't only Harry that needed an anchor. Maybe Ezekiel also needs someone that he can trust and feels safe with.
"Let's do it," Lu Chen replied with a small smile. He would take it upon himself to make sure this one was a success. Harry was much more important than any hardship and was worth it.
"I'll make a call," Ezekiel excuse himself and clapped Lu Chen gratefully on the shoulder.

James gulped down the beer and nodded his head to the jazz booming from his stereo. He had a shitty day at work today.
He had seen a side of his boss he didn't think he'll ever see. And he didn't know what to do with the knowledge of that.
It was.. disconcerting.
His phone rang and he swallowed a groan. This has better not be work related.
But a glance at the screen told him otherwise. He was wrong about his boss.
He might be a lovely and protective father, but he was still an asshat with no feelings.
He was still a bot.
"Yes boss?" He answered with a low voice.
"What???!!!!" He stumbled on the chair and spilled the beer on the floor.
What. In. The. Ever. Loving. Fuck??
