Chapter twenty five

Lin wei was in a dream. In this dream, she was playing in the meadow, with butterflies and a crown woven of flowers on her head.

She was smiling and laughing so wide. Then all of a sudden, a ridiculously tall man and an handsome face descended from heaven.

The sun was swallowed by dark cloud and he was holding out a single dark flower for her. The butterflies fizzled into dust and the meadow suddenly turned into a scary forest.

"Who are you?" Lin wei asked, scared. She took a step backward.

"I'm here to make your life a living hell," his long fingers stretched out the flowers.

Lin wei stared from the dark rose up to the man's glacier blue eyes and gave a loud scream.

She scrambled up from the bed, dazzled and confused and dripping with sweat.

Who was she? What was her name? Why was she here? But most importantly, where is here?

Footsteps sounded near and she quickly dug herself into the bed, covering her head with the blanket.

The light was flicked on, revealing a tiny but comfortable looking room.

A familiar room. A frame holding a picture of Bai yue and Lin wei holding ice cream was hung up on the blue wall.

"What is it? You just scared the living light out of me," Said Bai yue. Her hair was tied in a bun and she was wearing Lin Wei's favorite and worn hoodie.

"What's my hoodie doing on your neck? What am I doing here?" She asked, words tumbling out of her mouth in rapid succession.

She remembered quite a bit from the event of the previous day. She had met Ezekiel and his cousin, served him the wrong order and made him have a allergic reaction.

Another scream bubbled out of her mouth, startling Bai yue who gave a ringing scream of her own. She looked on the verge of yanking the door open and flying out of the room.

"What the fuck is wrong with you?" She queried sternly, patting her chest and taking a seat by the bed side.

Lin wei sat up abruptly wincing from the pain in her side. There are so many loopholes and she needed answers. What happened? Why wasn't she in jail yet?

She stared at her bandaged side. When has she gotten stab? But most important of all, what happened to Ezekiel?

"How did I get here?" She asked in a low voice. Her face was getting sweaty, hair matted on her head and jaw hanging slightly open.

By the time Bai yue was done with her recollection of what happened, Lin wei was half sure she was running mad.

The smell of something burning reached them and Lin wei thought it was be her destiny. Being burnt to crisp.

"Shit!" It's my food!" Bai yue screeched and ran out of the room. Leaving Lin wei alone with her thought in jumble, chasing after each other without even correlating. "What is it? Bai yue came back some minutes later, holding a try of what looked like burnt chicken, sticky rice and kimchi. The kimchi was looking a suspicious shade of brown.

Lin wei sniffed the air and smiled. At least she'll eat a delicious food before the police would come knocking at the door.

"Tell me everything!" Bai yue demanded in a concerned voice. She looked from Lin wei to the food and speared some chicken into her mouth.

Lin wei did the same and it tasted like dried cardboard on her tongue. She couldn't taste anything.

"So, you mean to tell me he had an allergic reaction? And you fainted because someone or something somehow stabbed you without you knowing? And he paid for your hospital bill?" Bai yue was getting more hysterical with each sentence.

And by the end, she was close to screaming. She took some force breaths and spoke calmly.

"And so when I was in a daze, I called you and you brought me your place." Lin wei concluded.

Her life was getting more and more hilarious.

She remembered something, "oh and I got sacked."

Bai yue scoffed, "Knowing Biggy, he's cutting his loss close. Now, I have an idea,"

Lin wei perked up, and chewed some rice.

"You'll make sure you never, ever, in your life have anything to do with Ezekiel Wang again!" She said with heat. Her eyes were sharp and her mouth was pursed.

She looked so worried. Lin wei wanted to hug her, but she stood up abruptly leaving Lin wei to catch the air. "I can almost believe this is some kind of conspiracy. It's too much of a coincidence," Bai yue mused out loud.

Lin wei cackled loudly, her laughing ringing in the small room. Bai yue's room had breathable air that was infused with smell of mold and rust.

"It's not funny!" She snapped.

Lin wei nodded, wiping her misty eyes off.

"You should probably move out of the country! Go live in a deserted island or something. I don't like where this is going. I do not like it at all," she huffed and sat back down.

"It's going to be fine." Lin wei lied. Of course it wasn't going to be fine. Nothing ever would.

"How's the academy," Lin wei asked quickly. The mood was too grim and unpleasant.

Bai yue scowled at no one, "The academy sucks. Not one single thing is great about it."

Well, that didn't quite work as planned.

Her phone pinged loudly, and she hurriedly grabbed it. The content of the message washed over her like an ice bath. She went instantly still.

"What is it?" Bai yue demanded, staring suspiciously at the phone.

Lin wei smiled, and shook her head, "it's nothing!"

"Of course it's something!" Bai yue cried, snatching the phone away and quickly scanning the content.

"It says you've been accepted!" She screeched.

"Oh well," said Lin wei dazedly. Just like that, her luck took another turn.

Good or bad, she'll find out soon, won't she?
