Chapter 98: Conceal Things (Part 1)

In his excitement, Mateo had forgotten to conceal it. Perhaps in his eagerness to succeed, he had unknowingly scraped his hand. "It's nothing, just a bit of a cut. I'm hungry. What are we eating tonight?"

Clara stir-fried spicy eel and stewed meat with beans. The taste was good, but somewhat bland. Salt was running out at home, with only four or five pieces left—enough for two meals. Having enjoyed seasoned meals for so long, it would be hard to swallow food without salt. She had to find a salt lake. In such a vast forest, she refused to believe they couldn't find one.

It was the first time Mateo had eaten stir-fried eel, finding it surprisingly delicious with the added spiciness of the chili. Apart from roasting and stewing, they now had a new method: stir-frying, which felt quite refreshing.
