Chapter 109: Mateo and Clara's Homecoming

Clara's heart sank. She discreetly glanced over at the group of beasts resting under the tree and saw no sign of John. Only a blind-eyed male beast lay there, clearly not John. Clara looked at Mateo, who appeared indifferent. Upon hearing the old leader's words, a hint of hesitation appeared on Mateo's face.

Ava, John's mate who had just arrived, was there to share the meat. She and John had no emotional connection; she just sought some support. Thinking that John had once again achieved merit, she intended to befriend him. However, when she asked some beasts who usually played with John, they ignored her. When she inquired about John's whereabouts, they shook their heads in silence, wearing expressions of panic.
