Susan's face burned from anger.

"I will compensate you with ten kimonos if my Toki-kun was truly the one who ruined your kimono!" She snapped, taking Toki away from Keiko and cradling her fur baby into her arms. "He can't defend himself, but that is not an excuse to randomly accuse him!"

Fumiko jumped to her feet, dragging the torn kimono in her arms.

"Do you have a hearing problem, Sensei?" She snarled, a pair of black eyes meeting a pair of greenish-blue eyes. "Keiko-san here just said that she saw your cat destroying my kimono. How is that a random accusation?"

Fumiko then pointed at Toki.

"Look at him! Evidence of his crime is still sticking to his fur!"

Strands of bright thread, mirroring the hues of Fumiko's kimono, clung stubbornly to Toki's long, fluffy fur, each fiber a silent whisper of accusation.
