Was It You?

Elara was finally discharged from the hospital, and Vincent had picked her up to take her home. Elara felt relief as the car stopped at familiar surroundings. She had been in hospital for days, she missed home. As Vincent pushed her in the wheelchair towards the front door, Elara's family members spilled out onto the grand foyer, their faces a mixture of relief and concern. Angela, ever the exuberant one, bounded forward in her school uniform, her eyes alight with joy.

"Finally, sister-in-law, I missed you!" Angela exclaimed, her voice carrying a hint of the adolescent enthusiasm that Elara had come to find endearing.

Elara mustered a warm smile, her heart swelling with affection for the bubbly young woman who had so readily accepted her into the family. "I'm back, don't get tired of me," she quipped, her tone playful despite the weariness that still lingered in her eyes.
