Humanity Vs Demons

The clash of bones and metal filled the air as Thalamik's skeletal army fought tirelessly against the demonic horde. The scene was like a maelstrom of battle filled with magical energy. The once-peaceful village border was now the center of a battlefield.

Thalamik's heart pounded in his chest, not out of fear but due to the strain of keeping Unlimited Undead active. On top of that, he is in a critical state as he had just punctured his own stomach. The ground around him glowed with blue color, a sign of the sheer amount of magical energy it took to sustain so many undead at once. His control over his mana reserve, honed through rigorous training, was being pushed to its absolute limit. The absolute stability he must manage between input and output. If the input is too small, then his undead army will eventually die and disperse. Yet if the input is too much, then the quality of mana and his mana reserve will eventually be dried out, and his body will experience necrosis from the lack of mana.

However, even though he tries to manage, it doesn't mean the place where he stands is safe. He parried another claw of a demonic dog with his dagger. Flicking that beast into his side, the undead army soon finished it.

His eyes once again caught sight of Paimon in the distance, levitating above the grounds amidst all the chaos. Her demonic figure, with long, flowing hair and cruel, golden eyes, glared at him with unbridled rage. She had introduced herself as one of the 72 Demon Lord Envoys.

Perhaps she really didn't expect to encounter this kind of fight with a human...

Thalamik thought to himself.

"What are you?" Paimon had spat now her voice filled with even more venom.

"No human should be capable of raising an army like this! Are you sure you're human?"

Thalamik wiped the sweat from his brow and, despite the exhaustion creeping through his limbs, flashed a grin. "I'm human, one hundred percent.... No.. ten thousand percent," he joked, though his voice carried a slight tremor of fatigue.

Paimon's fury grew as her demonic army was pushed back, not by sheer strength but by numbers. Thalamik's skeletons, unrelenting and endless, tore through the demons like a storm. No matter how many of her soldiers fought back, more undead rose from the ground, summoned by Thalamik's will.

Carmilla, still maintaining the protective barrier around the village, glanced at Thalamik from her position at the outskirts of the battlefield. Her red eyes narrowed as she watched him struggle under the strain of using such powerful magic.

"Heed my call, voices of Mana... obey my words and reach those I desire. Telepathy"

"Thalamik...." she called out using telepathic magic, her voice calm but firm.

"Carmilla, huh? Telepathic magic. I see you learned new spells yourself."

"You're overextending yourself. The spell—"

"I know!" he interrupted, his voice sharp but not unkind.

"But we have no choice. We need to hold them off until Raymed returns with reinforcements."

Carmilla clenched her jaw but said nothing more. Just by his words, she knew how stubborn Thalamik was, and now wasn't the time to argue. Her gaze shifted back to the barrier. For now, it was holding, but she couldn't maintain it forever. Her mana reserves were also starting to run low, and if the demons breached the village…

Thalamik grunted as he felt Paimon's presence growing closer. She was no longer watching from the sidelines. With a furious scream, she charged forward, cutting through his skeletal warriors with terrifying ease.

Each strike of her sword sent bones flying in all directions, but no matter how many skeletons she cut down, more rose to replace them.

"I'll dispose of you myself!" Paimon roared, her eyes locked onto Thalamik. "You certainly didn't think these skeletons will protect you forever now, would you?"

Thalamik's grin widened. "They seem to be doing a pretty good job so far."

Paimon's face twisted in rage as she summoned a bolt of dark energy and hurled it toward Thalamik. He barely managed to dodge it, the blast scorching the earth where he had stood moments before. She was relentless, her demonic power far beyond anything Thalamik had ever faced. Still, he couldn't afford to back down. Not with Carmilla and the entire village, depending on him.

With another wave of his hand, Thalamik summoned even more skeletons to intercept Paimon, but it was clear she was done playing games. She tore through the undead horde, her movements a blur of speed and violence. In seconds, she was upon him, her sword raised high.

Thalamik barely had time to react as her blade sliced through the air, aimed directly at his heart. He twisted his body, avoiding a fatal blow, but the sharp edge still managed to pierce his side, the pain immediate and intense. Blood poured from the wound, staining his clothes, but he didn't falter.

Paimon grinned wickedly as she saw Thalamik's predicament. "It's over, human," she sneered, raising her sword for the final blow. "Your skeletons can't save you now."

Thalamik gritted his teeth, his mind racing as he tried to think of a way out. He was out of time, out of options. And yet he refused to give up.

He glanced down at his dagger on the ground.

He could see it's starting to vibrate a little.

He then focused to detect any mana around him only to find....

This mana flow... I see... Well done....

With a devilish smile, he looked up at Paimon. "You're right. My skeletons can't save me," he said, his voice low and taunting. "But I don't need them to."

Before Paimon could react, a sudden force of mana spiked. What followed was a punch on the head with a speed of lightning. Paimon crashed to the ground a few metres away.

"You're late, Ray." Thalamik smiled as he saw his friend's entrance to the battlefield. His friend face was devoid of mercy and only contained fury.

"Asswipe! You dare attack humanity with that kind of power? Let's see you survive someone with size bigger than yours." Raymed said with fierce towards Paimon who was now on the ground prostrate. The red magical energy filled the atmosphere.

***

Paimon snarled, her fury reaching its peak.

"How dare you touch a demon lord envoy!" With a guttural scream, she charged forward, cutting through the waves of skeletons that swarmed her.

As he made his way, I raised a single hand.

I focused my magical energy and inserted it into the ground.

Quake!

With an injection of mana, the ground shook and cracked as a small hole opened below where Paimon was standing. She fell to the ditch.

"You bastard!! I'll kill you myself!" she roared, her eyes blazing with hatred as she tried to get up.

Landfill!

Mana was injected again, but this time, the ground filled the ditch like it was liquid, suffocating Paimon's body.

Then, light shone from the now filled ditch as it exploded, followed by an energy blast. Paimon once again was flying.

"Humans are annoying. I am tired of this." Her hands reached to the sky. As she began chanting in an unknown language.

"Zorastia Avarlia."

"Ksewuch Ten Kuachtik"

"Matikana Sevemua Lassakwanku"

Thalamik gritted his teeth as he prepared to defend himself.

I grabbed a grass on the ground and injected it with my Mana.

Grow!

The grass, injected with overflowing mana, grew rapidly and became huge. When it did, I aimed it at where Paimon was levitating. Then, as the size was enough, I grabbed the base and slapped Paimon with it while reinforcing the structure with Mana.

BUARNG!

Yet a forcefield appeared near her.

Shit what if the spell she is casting were to desolate all that's here... I have to figure something out or else-

"This is the end for all of you humans. Now, everything here will disappear." Her golden eyes glowed with a conceited smile.

"Now take this..."

.

But before she could finish.... a sudden flash of light filled the battlefield.

"Rule of Stability, Plausibility, and Balance."

"Restore the scales of fairness upon this world"

Carmilla's voice rang out, clear and strong despite her exhaustion.

"Personification of The Great Seal!"

Divine light struck Paimon with the force of a thousand suns, freezing her in place.

Her body trembled as the sealing magic took hold.

Then she fell as if immobilized to the ground.

Paimon screamed in frustration, her body convulsing as she tried to resist the spell. But it was no use. The sealing magic was too powerful, even for a Demon Lord Envoy like her.

"What… what is this?!" she gasped, her voice filled with disbelief and rage.

Carmilla stepped forward, her red eyes glowing with determination. "You've caused enough..." she said, her voice cold and unyielding. "It's time for this to end."

With Paimon immobilized, Thalamik and I saw our chance.

We weren't talking, but I could hear Thalamik's voice.

He ran towards Paimon's body and grabbed the hilt of Paimon's sword.

It was as if he is saying that the only thing that can damage Paimon was her own sword.

Both of us then grabbed the hilt of Paimon's own sword, and with one final burst of our strength, we pulled it from her body and reversed the blade.

As we did, Thalamik fell to his back as if he had no more energy.

"DO IT RAY!!!"

Paimon's eyes widened in shock as she finally understood what we were trying to do.

Then I raised my mana output.

10%.....

The mana began wrecking havoc of my surroundings.

20%......

The mana propelled Thalamik away from me due to the sheer force.

50%.............

The mana around me began to increase the pressure of the air as a reddish aura could now be seen with the naked eye.

"HUAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Finally, I reached 99% output.

The mana around me was furiously striking and damaging everything in site especially Paimon's body as cuts appeared on her body.

"Begone!" With a powerful swing, I used Paimon's sword to strike it down at her.

Her body trembled, and a pained gasp escaped her lips. The dark energy that had once radiated from her began to dissipate.

Perhaps this was proof that even a Demon Lord Envoy would be scared to death if it was nearing their doom. Heck, I bet even Thalamik wasn't this scared in his near-death experience.

"No… no, this can't…," she whispered, her voice growing weak.

As the blow hit, an explosion of magical energy wave surged towards the land. It was even enough to render the protection field created by Carmilla useless in a split second.

Yet something was wrong.. I feel that someone held the blade.

It can't be...

My sword was held... but by whom?

"Greetings, Human..."

The sheer pressure of the voice is enough to intimidate me.

"Oh so you can withstand our voice.... amazingly done."

A figure was holding my sword, withstanding it with both their arms.

"I am Baal.. The first rank, Demon Lord Envoy"

A woman with two large horns and black hair with red streaks spoke to me in amusement.
