THOUGHTFUL GIFT

December 30th, xxxx

KAMIL WAKES UP TO Precious back. Disoriented from sleep, he thinks his brain woke him up for his morning jog: like clockwork, it doesn't fail. That's the only explanation for waking up in Precious bed.

He turns to his side, already hefting himself from bed but the curtain reveals her skirt and for a second he's confused as to why it's dawn. The day breaks yet he is here.

That's right. Precious had asked him to spend the night. The whole night. That's right. He'd slept to the sound of Precious snoring, their arms wrapped around each other.

He woke up without Precious in his arms though. Precious back is to him, hoarding the covers, the cloth tangled from his hips to his mid-thigh—the rest behind him like a veil train, exposed back a planets of lovebites. His lovebites.

Precious peeks over his shoulder and seeing Kamil awake turns to him. Clear-eyed and smiling, a sign that he has been awake awhile.
