Royal Vampire Family, Shadow

Alex was quite surprised to see that his Shadow Lineage had opened the door and also saved him from the petrifying gaze. What was that lineage? Did it have something to do with vampires?

Mikkel, the royal vampire boss, was visibly shocked to see someone resist his attack. He looked at Alex with his crimson red eyes and said, "How did you dodge my petrifying gaze? Now that I think of it, how did you open the sealed door?"

It was strange to have a chat with a boss, but Alex also had questions. "I don't know, honestly. But I am here to kill you!"

The boss was 8 levels higher than Alex, but his hidden class gave him the confidence to fight against the boss! Well, his confidence soon vanished after realizing the deep trouble he was in.

'A boss is supposed to be a monster killed by a party, yet I am here alone now… I… I don't think I can win against this vampire!'

Things got even worse after a few seconds. Mikkel's level, which was locked at 20, started to rise! It was as if he was restoring his power after leaving his deep slumber.

It kept rising until it finally stopped at 50. That was huge! There was no way Alex would have a chance against that vampire. It was over for him.

'I will lose a level and fail the quest…' The current objective in his quest was to find out what was happening inside the cave, so killing the vampire boss was certainly a must, right? Well, perhaps that was not the case.

"Your smell… It is familiar..." Mikkel said, floating toward Alex. Alex, who was not dumb, was ready to move and flee, or at least try something, yet it was like the vampire emanated an aura that paralyzed his movements. He stood there, and did nothing.

Mikkel got close to his neck, and smelled it. "What? Could you have the Shadow Lineage? This is impossible!"

Shadow Lineage! His Shadow Hunter class had something to do with it, and it was now linked to the vampires as well. What exactly was happening?

Alex could not move but he could still talk so he asked, "What do you mean? This is not the first time someone says something about this bloodline."

Mikkel, still trying to recover from the shock, said, "The Shadow Lineage is from a lost royal vampire house. It was supposedly the strongest 3000 years ago, yet it vanished. Yet you are human…"

The idea of becoming a vampire was quite cool, actually. Alex thought it fitted well with his class, yet he did not know if it would completely change his gameplay or something.

Well, despite his troublesome thoughts of becoming or not a vampire, it seemed he did not have a choice. Mikkel cut his fingers and placed them inside Alex's mouth.

Alex started to freak out thinking that his character could be ruined or something. What if becoming a vampire was not a good thing?

"I am Mikkel, a royal vampire who does not have a family anymore after being locked here and losing everything. You will become a vampire, and if my guess is correct, and you truly have the Shadow Lineage, then the entire vampire realm will shake with your arrival."

"There's a cave in a mountain called The Mountain of the Giant Cliff. You can meet me there in a few days after you fully become a vampire. I can help you get through this."

"But can I live with humans? Will they know I am a vampire?" Alex asked.

"No, they won't. Old vampires can control themselves and mingle with humans. You, as a royal vampire, are much stronger and can certainly be near humans without problems. Now, I will leave. Don't tell this to anyone. When the guards become normal again, tell them I fled."

Then, before leaving, Mikkel grabbed a sword and pierced it into Alex's stomach, who growled with pain! The pain inside the game was not high, yet having a sword inside his stomach still hurt.

His HP got low, yet it did not kill him. After that, Mikkel left the cave so fast it was impossible to see him. He was like a shadow traversing through the cave, jumping from side to side.

Alex stood there, reflecting on what happened. How would his next days inside the game be like? Would becoming a vampire ruin or enhance his character?

'There is no reason to cry about this… I have to deal with the situation to the best of my capabilities!'

After a few minutes, all the guards that had turned into stone returned to normal, and the captain rushed toward Alex after seeing his wounded state.

"Adventurer! What happened?"

"T-The vampire attacked me and then it left… I could not stop it…" Alex said with a trembling voice.

The captain made a sign for him to talk no more, "Let me get you out of this place, kid. You need treatment."

Alex was inside the guards' barracks near the city walls. A few healers came by to heal him, making him look like new. The captain was there the entire time.

"It was not your fault, captain," Alex said.

"It is! If I did not allow you to come with us, then you wouldn't be in this state!"

Alex got up from the bed and said, "What state? I am fine now! More importantly, we have to warn Sebastian about the vampires inside the cave. There's something happening!"

[Return to Sebastian]

"You go," the captain said, "I will stay here to calm the guards who are still scared after witnessing that powerful vampire getting out of the coffin."

With a nod, Alex made his way toward the Wizard's Tower where Sebastian was, and on his way, a hunger started to grow within him!
