Chapter 10: Tricks of Deliberately Letting Loose 2_1

"How soon is soon?" Mrs. Butler was cut off abruptly by Ou Chengtian before she could finish speaking.

In fact, Xia Liyou never said that she would return soon, she only stated that she wouldn't return for dinner.

But Mrs. Butler, wishing to placate Ou Chengtian, deliberately told a harmless white lie.

"Madam said she has matters to attend to," said Mrs. Butler, her face pale and strained.

"Hmph, she always seems to have plenty of 'matters' to attend to," Ou Chengtian muttered resentfully, his fist slamming onto the stone table so hard that it trembled.

The mood in the room echoed that shaking table.

It is her birthday today and yet she dares to leave home and run around. Is she planning to celebrate it with someone else?

He'd left his work to come home and keep her company, but she had the audacity to leave. This woman indeed had no regards for him at all.

Mrs. Butler glanced at the food prepared on the table with concern. If Ou Chengtian was so eager to celebrate Madame's birthday with her, why didn't he call her himself instead of having her make the call?

Madame had hung up after just a few brief words, before she had a chance to inform her of Ou Chengtian's plans to celebrate her birthday.

By the time Mrs. Butler thought to call back, Madam's phone was already switched off. She assumed that Madame must really have been busy with something.

Ou Chengtian, his face flushed with anger, clenched his fists, his knuckles turning white with the force.

Everyone in the room felt their hearts rise up to their throats, reacting to his mood.

Being a servant in the Ou Family was undoubtedly painful. However, getting paid as a servant of the Ou family was oddly the greatest joy.

So, even if Mr. Ou was difficult to serve, they would persevere.

Mrs. Butler was at a loss for words, immobilized by an unseen pressure. She could only pray that Madam would return soon.

At this point, Ou Chengtian's phone began to ring.

With a grunt, Ou Chengtian pulled out his phone and answered without looking at the caller ID. His voice was filled with annoyance, "What is it?"

The caller was taken aback by his growl, but quickly gathered himself, used to Ou Chengtian's temperament, he chuckled, "Why is our esteemed Mr. Ou so angry? Encountered a vexing situation, have we?"

On hearing the voice, Ou Chengtian frowned, untied his necktie with an impatient air, and sat on the sofa, "If there's something, say it quick."

There were only two men in the world who could joke around so casually with Ou Chengtian, Wei Xuefeng and Qin Huayue.

Not for any particular reason, just because they were his childhood playmates.

From their earliest memories, they had been inseparable. Hence, they were well aware of all the mischief they had gotten into during their mischievous youthful days.

Being well acquainted, Wei Xuefeng also knew that Ou Chengtian was as timid as a mouse when confronting a certain individual.

He had discovered this a year earlier, when the certain individual accidentally cut her hand. Ou Chengtian's expression then, as if he had seen someone die, had exposed his inner turmoil.

The fearless Ou Chengtian was actually terrified of a woman, even the thought of it was laughable. Unfortunately, Qin Huayue had gone to America three years ago. If he knew about this, he would undoubtedly mock Ou Chengtian to his face.

Though Wei Xuefeng did occasionally tease him, he was always subtle, so Ou Chengtian simply played dumb, pretending not to hear.

Hearing the anger in his voice now, Wei Xuefeng immediately understood the situation.

It seemed like he had called at the perfect time.

"Mr. Ou, I have some news for you. You'll definitely thank me for it," Wei Xuefeng said, a sly smile on his voice.

Ou Chengtian, already impatient, was even more so at his words, the remainder of his tolerance grinding down to almost nothing, "If there's nothing, I'm hanging up."

Before he even finished speaking, he hung up on his own.

Wei Xuefeng stared at his own phone screen, and murmured to himself, "Such an impatient one."

About a minute later, Wei Xuefeng called again.

The reason for the one-minute interval was because Wei Xuefeng knew that if he called back immediately, Ou Chengtian would definitely not pick up, but if he let it rest for a bit, Ou Chengtian would be more likely to answer. After all, Ou Chengtian was always being contrarily difficult.
