I looked in the direction where the voice was coming from. I found Kin climbing a sloppy hill.
With it being night I couldn't tell if it had rocks or not. It was an opportunity to lose the zombies. I began to climb it but not with my hands but with my legs, it would prove treacherous and hard for the zombies to climb, not that they couldn't climb it but it would buy us a lot of time to escape.
I remember I had an ankle that sprained as I climbed the hill, it was sloppy and hard for me to climb.
The zombies' voices were closer, just as I was listening to the voices of the zombies. Three figures with four legs came crashing on top of themselves. It was the wolves.
The wolves saw me, and one of the wolf's heads turned clocked-wise.
"Holy... I didn't know they could do that" Kin yelled above me.
I kept climbing the hill and prayed I wouldn't fall. The horde had now appeared.
"Climb Faster" Kin called out to me, he had reached the top of the hill.
The hill was high, The wolves couldn't climb, and the hordes were slow in climbing it. Some fell as they climbed.
Thank God wolves couldn't climb, I thought until I saw one of the wolves jump. It jumped trying to reach the start of the hill. It seemed like the wolf had its normal senses but which normal wolf turns his head in a clockwise position?
My injured ankle and thighs were giving up. I had to push myself beyond my limits.
I saw something large up in the air, I did not know what it was. I didn't see it clearly, it was coming down with incredible speed and force. When it got close enough, I figured out it was a large tree branch.
The branch fell below me, splinters scattered like shrapnel in the air. Some of the fragments of the branch pierced my skin. I almost lost my footing
There was a roar, it was behind me, still in the enclosed wood. The zombie's noise grew when they heard it.
It was the Hybrid that made the roar and threw the large branch. I then knew its intention, it was to kill us. How can it possess such power? I thought to myself.
I saw more large branches above me. They fell with a great amount of force, the force was so great that I felt the vibration of the branches as they hit the ground.
"Dane get over here fast." Kin was afraid.
"Go without me, am already doomed," I said softly.
I didn't hear Kin's voice again, he had gone without me, I wouldn't blame him he was afraid of this daunting night.
I kept on climbing and more and more branches kept on falling narrowly hitting me. Finally the peak of the hill, it was beautiful, I was impatient and eager to get to it. I was held back by what I saw.
A very large branch about the size of a small tree hit the peak of the hill, and fragments from the impact came swirling toward me, I bent down a little, crossed my arms, and made it like a shield. Loads of chunks from the tree pierced my elbows. I wanted to fall from the hill. The zombies were waiting, waiting for me to fall to them.
I shook my head and stood up, there was a cloud of dust on top of the hill. I didn't see what was after it.
'I have to get to the peak, I have to."I said almost in pathetic tears.
Another roar was made by the hybrid. It was louder this time. I looked below me more like behind me, I saw some zombies struggling to get to me.
I summoned the stored energy my body and soul had in reserve. I reached the peak of the hill. I saw everything, the zombies below me, two wolves were struggling to climb, then I looked straight. The hybrid had a tree in both of its hands. It held it like a javelin. it was aiming at me.
The hill was two-sided, the other side led to a plain and straight path In the woods with scanty trees. I had no choice, I jumped from the hill to the ground.
Shortly after I jumped, I heard the tree crashing on top of the hill. The tree exploded like a grande due to the force, shrapnel from the tree hit me as I was rolling down the hill.
I kept rolling and rolling continuously, narrowly escaping hitting my head on a stone.
I finally hit the ground. I let out a cough when my back hit the ground, Vehemently, my lungs were choked and clogged up. I couldn't breathe, I did not have asthma but my breathing was impaired.
I coughed out something that blocked my throat I didn't know what it was. My breathing gradually got back to normal, but my back was still traumatized by the impact.
Getting up seemed impossible, my body ached all over. I couldn't move. I closed my eyes and everything became black, I blacked out.
---------------------**--------------------*-*-------------------------
I opened my eyes but it was blurry, my vision was doubled, whatever I saw looked like they were two, I saw a fire, it was doubled and shaking. I couldn't maintain my sight so I closed my eyes back.
When I fully woke up, I found myself beside a fire, a rabbit was roasting on it. I tried to sit but my ribs hurt.
"Hah" I shrieked.
"Oh... Thank goodness bro', I thought I lost you" Kin was holding his knife. He threw it to the ground and came to me.
I noticed that three wasn't a hill behind me. I was In an open area but it was surrounded by trees.
"How am I alive?" I asked with pride, deep down in me I was glad to still be alive.
"Huh, it's a long story. The Hybrid..." There was a pause from my friend, "Let's just thank God you are still alive. Rest and let's eat. There are still some stray zombies out there."
"My head, all my body hurts. I hurt Everywhere"
"Everywhere?" Kin had a weird look on his face.
"Yes everywhere," I said not getting what he meant.
"Everywhere? Everywhere?" Kin said smirking.
"Nah not that everywhere bro" I finally understood what he meant
Kin removed the rabbit from the fire. It was hot. He used a stone and a stick to cut the rabbit.
"Why?" I asked, confused.
" We used my knife to kill a zombie, I haven't cleaned it yet," Kin said, handing me a piece of the rabbit.
"Hmmm, it's good," I said devouring the rabbit like a zombie devoured us.
"After eating that, let's head out. We don't want the horde swarming us."
